Heard from my sister, who lives in Elk Grove and has been to the brewpub, that the place had closed down but didn't have any more specifics on it. Happened to be going through the area and decided to swing by. It was` Sunday afternoon and the place was locked up tight with no signs of life. Their website doesn't add any info one way or the other. Just an FYI for fellow beer drinkers.

What a great location, beautiful old building, not far off of either the 5 or 99 (closer to 99) Lots of free parking across the street a half block away. I stopped in one morning right as they opened, very friendly, made me feel right at home. Tried the sampler and walked away with a Growler of I.P.A. I will be back to try the food. I hope the hops shortage doesn't affect local brewpubs such as this one.

A tremendous brewpub in every way. Usually 12 beers on tap, every one of them is high in quality and perfectly in style. Great food, although a little pricey. Awesome service. Bill, the brewer, if frequently there and is very friendly.

Great old building with plenty of ambiance inside and out. They had eight brews on tap to go along with a full bar and the beer selection covered all tastes. Had a pint each of the Wrangler Red Ale, Otis Alt and the Grain Barrel Stout. All were great. Tasty and full of life. Had the Brewers Lunch Salad in an attempt to eat healthy on the rare occasion. With big slices of grilled chicken on top, it was an excellent choice. The locals seem to enjoy the beer as one after the other came in to get their growlers filled. Loved the old receipts and bills of lading from industries long since closed that were inlaid into the bar. Interesting reading. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice location. The beer is great and the food is great too. Atmosphere is not too pretentious for a brewpub. They even have board games you can play.

Wonderful establishment! Historic building adds greatly to the environment. Friendly people on both sides of the bar. Try the clam chowder - thick, rich and a lot of clams. Love the Marzen. All 12 beers are very good (at worst) to Great.

This is a wonderful place to go and hang out at. The quality of the beer is superior. I never feel sick the next day after drinking their beers. The Onion Rings are made with their own recipe of beer batter. Excelent taste! They have Clam Chowder on Friday night that is just like San Francsico style. Architecture inside is truley unique with two large copper brewing tanks, antler chandeliers, and a wooden bar that is composed of custom cabinets, wood decor, and marbel counter areas. Truely a classy looking bar. The staff is great!..You will not find too many places with quality people, beer, music and food like the Elk Grove Brewery. **** = four stars.

Woody's Hophead Red is absolutely excellent. It is best to visit this brewpub between June and December because you are missing out if you miss this beer. Sloughouse Ale is very good. Otis Alt is as good as a lighter beer gets. Bock is good as is the porter. The brown is OK. Wrangler red is lame as is the stout. The food is pretty good (but not as good as the beer). Order your chicken wings extra spicy and you'll be happy. Get garlic fries instead of regular. The atmosphere is great here: an old time building like this is perfect for brewpubs... keep in mind that if you go on some nights the music will be so loud that a conversation will be impossible.

Not enough good things can be said about this place!!!! Tried all 10 beers they had on tap (a very nice sampler) and all of them were great...speacial notes were the Slaughterhouse Pale*****(nice bouquet and a great aftertaste), Woody's Hop Head*****(a wonderful hop cone sits right on top of this beer and follows it all the way down to the back of your throat were it stays waiting for the next taste), and the Bock*****(a wonderful roasted chocolate malt taste with loads of mouthfeel)...
We got here a little late, but the bartender still stayed around and talked with us for a while...great Carisma...and added a lot to the place. After a full day of beer tasting, this was a nice ending...great atmosphere if you're into brewaniaor older buildings.

Yummy! This is one of my favorites in northern CA. Great food: clam chowder, garlic fries, rosemary chick sandwich. Beers: Winterwarmer porter was heavy & dark, great body; Otis Alt (amber ale) German-style, smooth award winning; Marzen Lager was light; Bad Dog Brown was very popular and it's difficult to stop at just one pint.

I was visiting in Ca. and this was one of the few brewpubs I had not been to in the past. What an absolute gem! The beers were all squeaky clean and excellent interpetations of style. My hat is off to Bill Wood. The building is great and area is nice. If you're going to Sacramento stop by.

Most of the beer has a great flavor. I liked the otis alt ale, and the seasonal bock lager is really good. I was really surprised by the dilly dippers(who would have thoght deep fried pickles would be good) they are excellent!

It's nice to go to a brewpub where the waitress knows the beers. I had the Woody's Hophead Red, the Bad Dog Brown, and the Otis Alt. Everyone had the "HELLO" when drank and the "REMEMBER ME" after being swallowed. the food was excellent. I will be back!

A group of seven of us were on a business trip. We were very pleased with the food and service. We had some steaks, fish & chips, and the best "wurst" platter and the Snickers Meltdown.
The beers we sampled were the Otis Alt and the Grain Barrel Stout. We found both of these brews to be excellent. The Grain Barrel Stout was very different from the stouts we are used to but very pleasant.
The atmosphere was great. The trip to see the building would have made the trip worthwhile. The building is in the National Registry of Historic Places.
This place is definately on my short list of places to visit again. Look forward to the next trip for their seasonal brew - amber ale.

Location make this place possibly worth you're while. Half way between the Bay Area and Sacramento, it's a nice place to grab a Wrangler Red Ale and lunch before moving on to much better places...//TSB
