I visted this brewpub on 5/5/08 and had the following brews; Pilsner, Marzen, Swarzbier, Blonde Bock, Hefeweizen, and Maibock. What can I say it is another Gordon Biersch. While I am not thrilled with the styles they choose to brew, they are good representatives of their respective styles. The view form the patio is awesome at night.

Gordon Biersch will always have a special place in my heart because their beer was my first steps toward weaning away from the Bud/Miller/Coors syndrome.Just wish they'd expand their beer menu a bit more. Always enjoy the Marzen and, on this visit, they were pouring Maibock. Good enough to order a couple. Like the food quality and expansion away from the burgers and fries of a lot of brewpubs. Having made a visit to all of their establishments except New Orleans, San Francisco's GB can only be surpassed by the one in Honolulu for scenery. The Bay Bridge is an awesome backdrop and the people watching along the Embarcadero is excellent. And it's a short walk to a Giants game at PacBell/SBC/ATT Park where you can buy a smaller version of the Marzen for twice the price. So stop in and fill up.

A step above a Rock Bottom but that's about it. Solid winter bock and pretty good marzen.

This is my girlfriend favorite place to eat in San Francisco. That helps because i love beer and she doesn't. The food is great here and their beers are pretty good. my favorites are the seasonals.

Yuppie singles crowd (San Diego location). Valet parking?...Come on! That alone should tell you what your experience on the inside will be like! Most people look like they're just happy to be seen drinking microbrew, rather than care what it tastes like. Sure, the beer is OK, but is better in the bottle. It might taste better at the restaurant if they didn't serve it SO DAMN COLD! I guess when you're serving mediocre beer to San Diego Yuppies, who cares? Might as well serve'm heineken in a frozen mug...they'd be just as happy! The food is good though and you'll always find some quality eye-candy!

Mmmm...I'm surprised by all the good reviews of this place. Unless they have awesome food (which I had none), this place is not worth seeking out. They only had 3 beers on tap: Pilsner, Marzen, and Dunkles. The pilsner was a typical pilsner, nothing special but very drinkable. The marzen was better...it had a little more character but still nothing special. I thought the dunkles would be my favorite, but once again I was disappointed. Three very boring beers.

Service with an attitude. Food was great but service was sooooo bad. Where did they get those people? Applebee's? Outback? I mean come on, I will not return to this restaurant ever again. Server - Gary B. <---Beware!!!

The microbrew has apparently established a strong area presence. I tried the Marzen brew during my stay at the Marriot Santa Clara and was sufficiently impressed to visit the Harrison St. location. Downstairs was hopping because of the Giants playoff game so I was forced upstairs. Upstairs dining was excellent. I enjoyed the outstanding Halibut dish accompanied by the Marzen brew. Very nice experience and will be back.

The beer is what it is, again, sort of dumbed down for mass consumption, make it as inoffensive as possible... the food is very good, but what really makes this place worthwhile is the location, beautiful place inside, sit on the patio on a warm day and enjoy the view

The best time to go is when there is some type of event out on the piers, like Xgames, 4th July , etc. Tons of good looking chicks. Peanut sauce skewers are good. The beer is not that great.

Both the Fest Beer and the Blond Bock were great tasting. Agree with the previous reviewer that the food is a bit pricey, but it was very good.

THE BEER IS AT BEST OK (THE MARZEN IS THE BEST). THE FOOD IS OVER PRICED FOR ANYWHERE BUT SAN FRANCISCO. BEEN THERE, SEEN IT, DONE IT, WON'T BE BACK.

Great location, great food, beers are good, but of such limited diversity. Put this pub in a so-so location and they would be out of business within 12 months on the east coast!

The beer is good (not great), the food is weird but there is something about the place I like. Besides, nobody says you have to talk to the "Yuppie Scum".

Overall, I think the G.Biersch is over-rated. They only brew four-five styles of good-but-not-great beer. And while the food is good, whatever happened to good ol' fashioned pubgrub? I guess I'll leave places like this to the yuppy-fied "suits", with their oh-so-sheik martini's and over-priced lager-wannabes...//TSB

Chain-style microbrewery, but the location on the Embarcadero at the Bay Bridge makes it worth the stop. The beers are marginal at best, so if you are pubcrawling just order the Pilsner and some garlic fries. The garlic fries and the view are the only reason to come here. The normal crowd here is pretty young, pretty yuppy, and just plain pretty.

On business trips I try to sample as many local brews as possible, and GB did not disappoint. The Marzen is easily at the top of my list as far as lagers go, and I'm actually trying to get a case shipped out to D.C. Nothing but good words for Gordon Biersch.

The Marzen is a very tasty brew. Food is a bit pricey (though on the whole, it's worth it), but the drink prices were surprisingly reasonable. As for others' comments on the pretentiousness of the crowd: It's San Fran, what did you expect? The garlic fries won't disappoint, and did I mention that the Marzen is *excellent*?

I was roasted alive under the gas powered heaters on the porch. What can you say about a chain brewpub anyway. Taco Bill is right the yuppy scum is out in full force here.
