This is a nice out-of-way brewpub. Food was very good and the service was first rate. Ah.... but the beer....well, that could have been significantly better. I had a sampler of 8 beers and overall they were pretty average. The Oatmeal Stout was not too bad and their Face Off Red was OK. The rest were rated quite low. As a restaurant, this place was very good. As a brewpub, it was only mediocre.

Disappointing.
I'm looking for "awesome." This place could be if they would make "awesome" beer, but they don't... it's barely so-so in my book. I'm hoping they will work this out because the atmosphere and service is great. In fact, it has a great, local vibe. Good energy in the house.
It's clean, not overly noisy. Food is decent enough.
But the beer - weak taste, poor spectrum of flavors.
I'll try again in a year hoping for a change in brewing.
If you want a great place to hang out after work and don't expect much from the beer you'll love it in my opinion.

I've enjoyed this brewpub many times. My favorite brews are the Ironwood Dark and Oatmeal Stout but their seasonals (currently Mai Bock) are generally a nice change of pace. They also have a fruit beer that can be interesting (last fall's green apple for example). The menu has a wide variety of excellent sandwiches and more substantial dinner items with a range of prices. The staff is attentive and friendly. A great place for dinner or to catch your favorite team on the HD TVs.

Stopped in after a Sunday afternoon bike ride.Timed my visit perfectly.A couple hours earlier and I'd have been in the midst of the Shoreline Amphitheater pre-concert crowd. This location is a bit more laid back compared to its younger counterpart in downtown San Jose and Mountain View is still a sleepy little town. It's a short stroll from the commute train/light rail station to the brewpub.Got a CascadeAmber to start.Tasted a bit like a Pale Ale but was still good.Going thru the menu, not your standard pubgrub. Harvest squash quesadillas for appetizers? Wild game burger(buffalo, ostrich, elk).Settled on the Brewers Burger(beef patty topped with pastrami and jack cheese)with a choice between five side dishes. The pastrami totally made the burger.Even the fries I got were great.Maybe it was the bike ride. They were out of Stout so got a Ironwood Dark.Nice Brown Ale that kept a good head for most of the pint.Beers brewed on site.Full bar.Good sized place with ample parking.Outdoor seating.Couple dozen stools at the bar and several well placed TVs.A good excuse to stop in downtown Mt. View for a couple pints.

Heard about this place back in NY and had to check it out when I was visiting the area. Beer was good to great and had 6 beers to choose from. Tried most of them and I loved the Cascade Amber and so did the other people I was with. Real nice place to hang out at after work and also to eat dinner at. Good menu with a pretty good number of things to pick from. Not great but not bad. I'll be heading back there soon......

Since I added some comments on Indiana brewpubs, I wanted to note that this is my home bar. To be brutally honest, Tied House has been around for a long time now, and has fallen into a rut. The old stand-bys are still solid beers, but they could really use a spark and some originality. Still, it's a great group of people and a great atmosphere. I've made so many friends there.

Just a fine place to have a few beers and enjoy a sunny California afternoon. The beers we tried we pretty true to form, and presented well.

Large, open, nicely done building. Nice place to take friends, clients, business associates. I noticed a lot of power lunches going down around me. I tried one beer and it was a really good example of a strong barleywine. I would return here for that reason solely, that barleywine was really well done. The food was your usual brewpub-ten-or-twelve-dollaraplate stuff, nothing all that memorable or iamginative. Still, that barleywine is calling me back. Cheers!

Oh la la, very nice, upscale place. I couldn't believe how busy this place was for lunch at around 1pm. We were lucky to get a table. The server was dull, but the food and beer were served quickly and yummy! The Cascade Amber was light on flavor, but good. The Ironside dark (brown) was smooth and not heavy, excellent.

Seasonal special right now is an Octoberfest. One of the best examples of the style I've come across. Very malty, but not sweet, dry and tasty. The brown ale is quite good too. Definite hop character to balance the malt.

I had an interesting visit here in September. I was a little surprised at the GABF medal winners; the New World Wheat and the Cascade Amber. Both were on the subtle side, particularly the Amber. However, I thought the Ironwood Dark was very good with nice malt body and a light finish. The Alpine Gold was the most pilsner-like ale I've ever had, extremely refreshing. The service was real friendly and I had a bunch of questions that they took time to answer. All in all, a great place to have a beer or two.

I've really liked all the other Tied House's in the Bay Area, but this place's service staff was so s-l-o-w as to really drag it down into mediocrity. It's "ok" if you don't have anywhere to go for a while, but otherwise....//TSB

A good enough selection though not great. But try their oatmeal stout. Definitely makes the trip worthwhile. Food was very good. Have a rotating wild game menu. Only real drawback was their service which was only soso

Totally disagree with JC, Washington. All the beers are good, some are great. They always fare well at the GABF. You won't do much better anywhere.

They make a decent brown ale, but their other stuff is just mediocre. They have a good food menu, though-better than most! Not the worst spot in town, not the best.

I use to work close by and unfortunately, the quality of the beer has fallen off in the past year. We've stopped going for this reason. Back patio is great in the summertime.

Very friendly service and setting. The outdoor beer garden is a nice spot in the summertime. Nice selection of on premise beers to choose from. You should consider becoming a member of the mug club.
