My wife and I make this one of our regular stops on our Austin "pub crawl" hikes. The prices are better than at downtown locations and the pub grub is good too. Definitively a must stop location. Simple with great food and beer!

My favorite place in Austin to hang-out. Have been going there for 8 years. Great beer, great food, wonderful people.

If want to wear... jeans and flip flops.. you might be over dressed. The bugers..are great.. but in their own way... If you want to "feel" the austin culture ... go to this place.

The music is alittle different, the people are super nice, and the up keep of the dart boards is great! The only thing missing is the Flying Dog Pale Ale, but other than that, it's a great place to hang out.

A great selection of beers on tap, even more in the bottle. My biggest complaint is they did not pour the Guinness properly. I know they were busy, but still... The food selection is minimal - typical bar food, but the burger I had was yummy.

I was there with a friend the day the Crown & Anchor opened for business. I remember that we figured the place had potential - all it needed was a few years to allow for an adequate buildup of grime to buttress the rusticity to which it obviously aspired.
I am immensely pleased to report that the years have supplied the grime and the Crown has truly lived up to its early potential. With an outstanding beer selection, great Sunday night specials and a healthy mix of students and genuine Austin bohemians, the Crown & Anchor should be on everyone's list of pubs to visit. The food is greasy and good, the atmosphere festive.
If you prefer fern bars or Sullivan's-esque establishments, avoid the Crown & Anchor. And while you're at it, avoid me too.

Love this joint. One of the most laid back "hangs" in town, in the afternoons. Truly excellent burgers and fries, at a great price. Gets loud as all get-out later in the evening. Clientele is hard to categorize (which I like). Great joint, great people-watching, no pretense. I love it.

Fun hangout right near UT campus. Pub food and great selection of local micros. Gets pretty rowdy on football game days... in a good way.
