I can't recommend going here for the beer. Definately not for the food. But for a good time, its three stars, worth stopping by. It does have a bit of a tourist trap feel to it. But I was very impressed by the piano player who stated (true?) that he's been there for over 25 years. If true, I can see why. Truely a character. When he's gone, I doubt this place will still be around. He does sing alongs, and ribbs every person walking throught he door. If you can't take a chops busting like James of NH, don't stop in.

James tooley of Portsmouth, NH has no couth... Nellies and I assume the Pie-anno player he's talking about can get a crowd up in a New York Minute. Oh he's a little to risque in his older days, but he can sing and he can play and he knows how to work a good crowd.
Its a little bit of Heaven -- Nellie's is

If you are looking for "THE IRISH PUB" it is actually up on Data point! This is just a tourist place like going to a pub in Dublin. If you want to go to a place like in REAL Ireland. Hit THE IRISH PUB.

Great place on the River Walk. I would not consider it a true Irish pub, but the entertainment in the evenings is excellent. Not too many beer selections.

This is one of the Riverwalk saloons. Some Irish beer and some Irish / British food. The staff has always been first-rate, but the beer selection is, as has been noted, somewhat limited. It's a tourist place as our most of the places on the walk. Nevertheless, worth a stop and a pint if you're on the Riverwalk in San Antonio.

If you are looking for a good beer, go somewhere else. If you are on the Riverwalk and want to try an interesting place, give it a shot.

I love tu visit the place every time I visit San Antonio! I can just love this drunken piano player, singing and burping! I spent 2000's New Year's Eve there and it was just fantastic!

Your standard "Irish Pub" in a box. Get the Guinness, sit back and watch the riverwalk crowd. Peanuts on the tables, throw the shells on the floor. Most of the food is typical bar food. The Bunratty Chili was good though. Like a sliced steak covered in Chili Sauce.

As far as the previous review: It's on the riverwalk, so what did you expect? Just another tourist spot wanting your money!

Selection a little lacking. Given that it is hailed as an Irish-style pub, I expected more British & Irish beers, like Murphey's stout or something. The food and service were good, the setting and atmosphere were pleasant, lots of dark wood, cool and comfortable. A good time and a great respite from the heat and the bustle of the Riverwalk.
