There are much cheaper places in Portland with far better beer selections. Most beer is around $5 a pint with no happy hour breaks on drinks. For Hop Heads, this pub has nothing to offer. The only IPA is Mt. Hood Ice Axe, which is too malty for my taste. They stopped carrying Bridgeport IPA, a far superior beer. The service is lousy, and I have noticed the staff giving prompt attention to young, scantly clad female patrons while ignoring others.

I entered with trepidation, I sually regard these fake Irish places with disdain. But I was happily surprised, its actaually quite nice and the beer is served well. The food is nice and the service better.

Decent selection of beers, all tasted good (stored & served properly), and they deserve a "great" for beer alone. This place gets an awesome on 3 counts: service, food, & whiskey. The server was glad to ask the kitchen if they could make a vegetarian & low-fat meal, which they quickly cooked & served; it (and the other 2 meals) were delicious. But the real draw is the whiskey & irish atmosphere. The bills on the ceiling go to charity -- they're wrapped around two quarters, and held there by Irish magic (I got it to work, but was sworn to secrecy). They have about 100 types of whiskey, mostly single-malt Scotch, a lot of rare stuff you haven't tried, such as the weekly special of Cadenhead's 17y.o. bottling of Longmorn-Glenlivet -- one of the best whiskey's I've ever tasted (out of 100 I've tried). Right downtown by the riverfront, a great place to get away from the bustle of the Saturday Market.

Great little pub. Entertainment was wonderful and personable. Loved the bills on the ceiling....kinda wondered what that was about. DON'T sit by the door on a cold night, you will freze, or constantly be closing the door.

The pub has a separate dining room that serves great food, Irish Stew, Fish & Chips etc: and fantastic Irish soda bread. The draught Guiness tastes as good as that in Dublin and that's some statement, as Guiness is known for not traveling well. The bar has a real pub atmosphere with live music at night and you can feel good by donating a dollar bill to charity, which a member of the bar staff will throw up at the ceiling (high)where it sticks to the ceiling awaiting collection for charity later in the year.
