Apparently they are stikcing with the Oak Pond Brewery. Service is really good. The beer was good. The IPA was quite good and awfully smooth for 9%. On tap were" Pilsner, plae ale, IPA, doplebock, nut brown, and oktoberfest lager--all Oak pond. Guest taps were: Bar Harbor Blueberry, PBR, Guiness, Sam Adams, Dogfishhead Chicory stout.

Unfortunately Narrow Guage has indefinitely suspended brewing operations. The Granary Restaurant still serves craft beers though, currently including Oak Pond Brewing Company's offerings from Skowhegan

Pub entrance directly from parking lot, next to restaurant. The pub adjoins a pool/game room and is very comfortable. Had a sampler of four (blackberry wheat, cream ale, pale and oatmeal porter)and really enjoyed the oatmeal porter. Off the main st (RT 2), but easy to find.

I was always mistakenly under the impression that Narrow Gauge brews were available at The Granary, a separate restaurant. I was really pleased to discover that there is a large separated portion of the Granary that serves as the Brew Pub complete with the delightful aroma from the mash tun in the adjoining room. The Stoker IPA was outstanding, a complex body and hop balance which wasn't overpowered by bitterness. The fruitiness from the yeast really came through as it warmed up a bit. The Highland Scotch Ale, that I suspect was appropriately aged, was a great session beer. The Oatmeal Porter was a relaxing delight. Iron Rail Pale is their Flagship beer, and although good, it was a bit middle of the road for a pale, similar to Shipyard Export, if you will (which I think Shipyard considers a "Canadian Ale"). We spent some time at the bar and met a number of the staff who were, without exception, friendly, witty and engaging; not to mention the good service. Oh Yeah, the Almondine Duck Tenders appetizer was exceptional, only to later be one upped by the smoked cheese and meat pizza. They offer growlers, but plan on spending a mint for the fancy bottle. (note to all places that sell the fancy growlers … they don't fit in the cooler or the fridge)

The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the menu is capable of satisfying any appetite and the chefs' are willing to accomodate any other requests at any time! The Beer selection is extensive and worth sampling in both large and small quantities, you will also find the wait staff knowledgeable on the various brews offered on tap and able to make recomendations on your specific palate. The Granary Brew Pub is a must Stop and taste location in Maine! Don't forget to stop by their sister restaurant The Boiler Room, Located in downtown wilton, renovated out of the old Bass Shoe Co.!!! Thanks For Catching My Review! I am a local and devoted customer and I strongly encourage patronage! Sincerely, Emily Eck, W.New Portland, Me

Some unusual brews, a nice rye and a great maple ale. You wouldn't normally think of having eggs at a brewpub, but they have some great omelettes

This is my hometown brewery, so I'm biased. The Narrow Gauge Brewing Company has some excellent beers to choose from. Their IPA is fantastic - incredible hop aroma and flavor without too much bitterness; and if you can catch their seasonal Barleywine it's a real treat. Don't let the college kids drinking Pabst fool you -- this small regional brewery is a serious contender. If only they bottled for shipment...

We found this place en route, so we couldn't try all the beers. What we did try were pretty good. The Scotch Ale had a very pleasant roastiness to it, and was my favorite. The Iron Rail Ale and Stoker IPA were also pretty good. I had mussels and fries for lunch. The mussels were grossly overcooked, and the fries were soggily undercooked. Service was a bit sullen. This place has great potential if the kitchen can match up to the beers.

In March 1998 we tried to blitz this place late one evening after checking into a motel in Portland. We called in advance to have them hold a seat late for us. We were delayed en route by Maine's Finest (and the ticket), and arrived after closing; the owner came out from a warm home to give us the ten-cent tour, sell us plenty of merchandise, and send us down the road with several Grolsch-style bottles of their product. The beer was nothing short of stupendous, never mind the wonderful service that accompanied it. If fresh off tap matches what we had in the bottles, it's among the best product of any brewpub I've been to. As Michelin guides say, "worth a trip itself".
