Just discovered Troegs during recent vaca in PA - excellent brew, particularly the Troegenator Double Bock. Also sampled the Pale Ale, HopBack Amber, Rugged Trail Nut Brown, and Bavarian Lager, but found the Double Bock to be my personal fave.

When visiting friends, I got a couple of six packs in Silver Spring at a quality wine/beer merchants, The ESB and Nut Brown Ale are classy brews, and rank with the best of Eastern regionals. North Carolina has a bunch of good micro's, of course, so does PA... and I've got a sentimental fave in Yuengling Porter...but I'm getting more Troegs this weekend to have after seeing Eqyptian Art at the National Gallery in Washington. Did you know the Egyptians brewed beer to drink after a long hot day building the Pyramids? But they didn't have Troeg's to enjoy. We can! YAH!

One of the best beers I have ever had. The only other small brewery beer that is close is Alaskan Amber.I wish it were available here in New Hampshire. I travel frequently and can get it sometimes in Virginia. Definately the highlight of my trip.

Had their Nut Brown Ale and E.S.B at the festival at Appalachian Brewfest. Great beers. Very similar to Sam Smith's Nut Brown but with a little more body and mouthfeel. E.S.B. reminds me of Youngs with a much more pronounced hop aroma(? fuggles/East Kent Goldings). Bottle versions were excellent as well.

Just under a mile up the road from Appalachian Brewing on Paxton Street sits the Troegs Brewing Company. Troegs is not a brewpub, but a microbrewey, and it is well worth your while to stop in for a tour, and some samples of Troegs beers fresh on draught in the tasting room/gift shop. Tours are offered at NOON and 2pm on Saturday, and the guide more likely than not will either be John or Chris Trogner, the brewery owners and founders. John conducted the tour last Saturday, and he gave an informal and very educational tour. Troegs is brewing five beers at the moment including a Bavarian Lager, a Pale Ale and ESB, a Nutbrown Ale, and their summer seasonal Sunshine Pils. All their beers are stylistically accurate, and outstanding, flavorful examples of their respected styles. Look for Troegs beers in PA, NJ, and select markets in VA. If ever in Harrisburg, take a trip to Troegs, and pick up a few cases of some truly exceptional local microbrewed beers.

I was recently in the area and like to try local brews. I bought a sampler case to bring home. The ESB is very good, as is the Nut Brown Ale.

Went to the brewery in Harrisburg a few weekends ago for the tour. If you are a homebrewer or just like to talk to brewers, I highly recommend this tour. We were there a little early and tasted many of the brews. Got a great personal tour of the brewery. Check out their collection of beer bottles!

The beer that Troegs brewed can only be described as awesome. I couldn't decide which beer was the best they were all so excellent. If your local bar doesn't have a Troegs product then demand that they get one!

I travel a lot for business and always sample microbrews from the local establishments...the Troegs Pale Ale has become the standard by which I judge all other beers. (The ESB is pretty good also).

The Pale Ale and the Nut Brown are great but the ESB can't be beat. The brewers, Chris and John are great guys who are happy to show you around.

The bottles that have been reaching Virginia have been getting rave reviews from the retailers. Pale Ale and ESB do a superb job of packing hop aroma & flavour w/o overdoing bitterness. Future output is awaited!

The Troegs' brothers make some fine beers, especially their ESB, which is a great beer normally, but hey when you cask condition it and pull it through a good ole hand pulled beer engine it's awesome. All the boys need to really take off is some food to go with their beer. Really nice guys and they have a great establishment and give really fine tours. Keep up the good work! NOTE: You can only get the cask conditioned, hand pulled ESB at NICKS 1014 Cafe in downtown Harrisburg...I really shouldn't be telling you all about this but if I didn't it would be just plain selfish- save me some ok?

The operation is run by two young gentlemen who know what they are doing. It is well worth the trip to Harrisburg to see their grade "A" brewery. Although their selection is limited to a Pale Ale, an ESB, and now a Nutbrown Ale, you will find it hard to beat the taste.

Selection is limited -- they're just getting started. The ESB is quite good. The Pale Ale leans toward British rather than American -- by design.
