Located in an interesting neighborhood in Portland NE. Service a bit slow at times/ Their IPA was good, but only about 60 IBUs compared to Laurelwood. The Black Bear Stout was also decent. Parking can be a problem at peak times.

Went to 13 brewpubs/breweries in one week 4/29-5/6, so I cannot write too much for each one, but "Beervanna" is the appropriate name for Portland. Every BP, beerbar we went to was top notch and friendly with great to awesome beers and service with few exception- the ones filled with smoke. But overall, compared to east coast, Portland is THE place for real beer lovers to spend at least a week. And we only did 2 McMenamins. Fly to Portland, grab an offcial beer map, hop on public transit (every BP was on a bus/tram/train line or a short walk) and have a beer blast!

Alameda Brewhouse is in a large warehouse-type space set up with a small bar area, several brewing tanks placed in a corner, and several tables, including a line set along the large windows looking out onto NE Fremont. Though located some distance from the downtown core - it's actually closer to the airport, it can be reached via Portland's excellent public transit system (Bus 33 goes right past the door.) I don't know what the previous pubcrawler did, but my service was fast and efficient. During my visit, I tasted: Klickitat Pale Ale, Turk's ESB and a nitro-pour stout, Black Bear XXX. I enjoyed my visit; twas a comfortable and relaxing beerhall that is well worth the trip. Two beer-covered thumbs up!

Service was horrendous. It was a nice night outside so we sat on the sidewalk and our server was extremely slow and nonchalant about everything. He may as well have worked in a morgue. The food wasn't that great at all, rather bland and the beer sucked. I went there with expectations from a few people and I can safely say that this brewpub is much better looking than it tastes. I don't think I'll venture there again. Shame, it's in a really nice location.

What impressed me most when I walked into Alameda was bar seating! I found this to be a rarity on my trip out west. The menue looked a bit tendy and expensive but I wasn't there to eat. The beer varieties and ingredients had a bit of a "new age" twist but were pleasing one the less. Particulary good was the black bear double stout and the porter. The service was not that great until she realized that I was a beer enthusiast--then service improved dramatically. Great view of Mt. Hood as you drive down NE Fremont.

Very nice, clean, slightly upscale restaurant, although a bit pricey. Good beers and great food. Chicken taquitos were spicy/hot, turkey club was average with no sides, salmon tortellini was a healthy portion with a lot of salmon. Logo pint glasses: $3.50 12/15/03 6pm

Alameda had a nice atmosphere, open and airy. I had a good calamari appetizer and enjoyed the pale ale. I would go back.

The metal hop cone adornment above the door of this brewpub was a good sign for us after sampling some less-than-hoppy ales through the Pacific Northwest (they do still grow hops there, right?) I really liked the atmosphere which was pretty cavernous with interesting wood booths. But, what I really came for was the beer and it did not disapoint. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us some great advice on some other local beer establishments. I wish we had enough time to try the food.

Service was a wee bit slow, but the brewer was willing to take a moment from making a Wit to talk shop. Nice place & total package makes it well worth a stop.

We were in town for the races and ended up going to this place twice. The beers were uniformly excellent (except the cask conditioned Gold). The nitro stout was especially good.

On June 2nd, visited to find of their 13 beers on draft, with several other guest taps. Some differences were slight, such as the doppelbock with 3 months of oak on C02 tap, another doppelbock with 6 months of oak on hand-pumped engine. Alameda has more great & interesting beers at one time than most breweries have in a year: rose-petal flavored beer, the stout, the pilsner, the light ale, and more. Amazingly, none were stale or 'off'. I had the Blue Marlin quesidilla, the special of the day, and it was great, too. It's in the middle of nowhere, in a residential district, but it's worth the trip!

Not a fancy brewpub, but worth visiting while in NE Portland. The Klickitat Pale Ale wasn't too bad. More bitter than most pale ales, though very smooth. The food selections were pretty good as well. However, the service is slow.

Brews are not designed for the timid: Even the light styles are big and rich in comparison. Definitely a site to seek out in Portland.

A great place to grab a beer and soak up some neighborhood flavor in the Beaumont District on Fremont. Menu offers creative pastas, steak, seafood, salads, pizza, sandwiches. Not your run-of-the-mill pub food. This stuff is prepared from scratch and is worth the wait. Smoked Mushroom Ravioli is a favorite. Desserts are made daily by an in-house pastry chef. Lots of choices. Recently offered Huckleberry Pie. Heaven!
