My husband and I went to CJ's for the first time a year ago because of a coupon we had in our Entertainment Book that we puchased from a niece selling them for a school project. We first had the Santafa Steak and Flat Iron Steak and were thrilled with our meal. We went back without a coupon and the dinners were just as good if not better. I then ordered another Entertainment Book from online and took advantage of the coupon to go back again. Guess what? It was better than the last time. Since then we have been back numerous times, order the same thing and have NEVER been disappointed. We have not tried the other fare on the menu but see it go out to others and it all looks good but we stick to the two steak dinners that are tried and true. These dinners rock in our opinion!

I'm surprised how many people like the IPA, I found it to be lacking in the hop department(try Centennial Ale or Two Hearted Ale). The summer seasonal was very good I bagged a growler, our food was excellent overall a good experience. I hadn't been to CJ's in a couple of years and this time we ate outside on real nice late afternoon, much better time then last couple of visits.

I am not a huge beer drinker but my friends enjoy several of the brews here. As for the food, its pretty good but I would say that it is a little overpriced. Most people I know don't go for the food anyways. Service is decent but the owner is a jerk. Out of the staff perhaps only a small handful are worthy of good service. I live in the area but I would rather head to Uptown at Haggerty and Maple.

I first experienced CJ's in 2002 when I lived a couple miles down the road. I now live across the border in Toledo, OH and I made the trip back to CJ's several times because I love the beer and atmosphere so much. I would have to say this is without a doubt the best micro brew in Michigan. Sometimes the selection isn't the greatest, but who cares when the IPA is so awesome. The Gold Top and Cherry Wheat are great too, but I love the IPA so much I hardly stray. The food is awesome too, Cap'n Crunch Chicken...what a great meal.
I have been here more times that I can remember and I have never had a meal, beer or service. Keep up the great work...even though I'm no longer a local I will be there as often as I can!

I love this place! My family and I come here frequently. The atmosphere is great, the beer and food are phenomenal. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, as well as the bartenders. I've yet to have a bad experience.
To the guy that left the bad review... SEEK HELP.

Great Location, Uncomfortable chairs and booths, food is fair, beers are quite forgetable. the stout is only half baked and others are like they were made by beginners. the building has no ambiance. considering i live less than two miles away, i've only been there twice and won't be back. i will drive many miles to dragonmead or kunnan (sp)in warren for great beer. i think that since cj's sells bud light etc. is pretty indicative of their brewmaster's ineptitude.

Played 18 holes at the great Bay Pointe Golf Club across the street from CJ's, then came over for a couple of beers and lunch. Bay Point used to be private, now public; but very well maintained. Has a beautiful dining room of it's own, but no fresh microbrews!
We sat at the bar at CJ's, and the waitress made us feel like we were her only customers, even tho it was 5pm and the place was filling up. Sampled the IPA and Amber (both $3.25) and they were excellent.
Our food selections were less successful: "Beer Onion Soup" ($4) served in a heavy crock with a thick, impenetrable layer of elastic cheese. "Michigan Salad" ($10 + $2 for chicken) was a bowl of dried cherries, nuts and cheese topped by a slab of sliced grilled chicken...sparse greenery. When we asked for some bread with the soup, a hot, greasy pretzel-like thing was finally delivered a minute before we finished the meal.
Overall impression: great location, beer, ambience and service. But if you are hungry, go across the street to the dining room at the golf course, sit outside, and watch the duffers play the 9th hole.

This is the second visit to CJ's. Get the sampler to get a great idea of their offerings. The chips and salsa was a great appetizer. The deep dish pizza was great. It was a crowded friday night, but we were seated in less than 10 minutes. Our waitress was great.

Maybe this place is a little old to me cause it is about 10 min from my parents house, and whenever im home i go every night. But the beer just never changes. Its always the lager, stout, red, IPA, and two seasonals. The lager is plain. The stout has good flavor, but is too watery. The red is a solid beer, but nothing really special. The IPA is the best. If you are a true hop head, skip this. This is geared more for the people who like a "light" IPA with not too much hops. The summer seasonal was excellent. An orange honey wheat i believe. The food is great, the service is overall good, some lazy college students here and there, but overall good. If you are in the area, stop at this place. But dont go too much, it gets old in a hurry.

I was dissapointed that they were out of the summer seasonal. I tried the sampler and I have to agree, the IPA is the best of the rest. The raspberry wheat and the lager were barely flavorful at all. The Stout is probably the most waterdown I have had. For my money the amber and the IPA are tops here.
The service staff was friendly and I would go back to try the summer ale and eat.

The worst brewery in the Michigan and I've been to them all. The beer is next to the worse micro brew I have ever had and with service to match. Good luck getting a bill, more so another pint. As a true beer fan I must say that CJ's is nothing more than a second bar.

Wandered in for a cocktail and found some of the best acoustic entertainment around. Roy Caldwell really belts out the r&b's. His "Dock of the Bay" version is out of this world. I highly recommend the place especially with this guy entertaining.

Tried all five beers on tap, I would say the brewmaster has them right on the money. The IPA was excellent, it was an explosion of hops. Every visit the food is great. I would suggest that you visit this brewery, it is one my mine and my families favorites.

Stopped in after a Red Wings game...they won of course! I ordered an IPA and is was wonderfully hoppy. Next a porter...dark, hefty, just as it should be. Ended up enjoying more of each. A great evening and a wonderful place

On a recent visit the wheat and IPA were sampled and both are worth the trip. A major flaw in the operation of this brewpub is that several, if not more, bottles of bud light were being consumed rather than CJ's own beer. I didn't see anyone eating Burger King food so why were they serving bud light beer? Aren't brewpubs in the business of making beer and serving it to their customers? As for food I tried the jambalaya. It was a bit watered down but overall it was decent. Generous helpings of shrimp and sausage but pretty tomato-y tasting. Beer selection received a 'lousy' rating due to the prevalence of unapproved beer.

A recent visit found a full house and some decent beer. The wheat was good and the IPA rocked. Service had an attitude, however, when asked about growler refills. Even though several jugs (!) were on display, we were refused beer to go. A sale is a sale, folks. Guess I'll spend my money elsewhere. They have packaged beer to go, but that wasn't I was looking for. Oh, by the way, most of the 20-something kids in attendance were drinkng Butt Light. Lots of it. Serving other brands, especially Budwater, at a brewpub, is wrong. When Bud starts selling CJ's beer, then CJ can sell Bud.

A pleasant atmosphere - they had a really great band playing the night I was there. The beers are fair to good, with the standards (pale, porter) decent and the experiements (a strange honey brew) a bit off.
