you got a crabfest special going on there right now. it's kind of hard to enjoy yourself when the main menu is missing from the menu. right? where' the crab? no maryland blue crab available. i mean that's what i came for. and it's not even crowded in there. and still early at 7:00 pm. some kind crabfest. i hope you guys do something about it before this establishment goes down under. seems to me this festival hoopla is all shibai.

I don't here as many people mention Sam Choy's as the other brewpubs on Oahu, but it is awesome. It is a little out of the normal downtown areas so if you are not looking for it you won't notice it, but it is easy to find. Definitely a hidden gem. I just sat in the bar area, but the bartender was super-friendly, the clientele was excited about the UH game, the food was excellent and the beer was incredible. I was excited they actually had an IPA, but the Ehu Ale (English style brown ale) was the one that really stood out to me.

Flew in for the day from Maui to see the Arizona memorial! Had a great suprise by visiting Sam Choy's! Poke Salad, Grilled chicken breasts and a Unique Bacon, Lettuce and Crab sandwich were fantastic. The IPA was as good as it gets!!!!

While the beer and food remain a good bet, the food does not. We went for a late lunch, on a Monday, and went thru a nightmare. Examples included, a clueless server, appetizers not arriving, waiting a 1/2 hour with empty beer glasses, and worse, having my plate taken away without asking. Further, how can you run out of ribs which is a main staple of Hawaii ?. To bad because the brewer knows what he is doing and the managemnet does not.

The beers had more body than the ones at Brew Moon. The food was good, not exceptional. Very nice place, I would return.

Best microbrews in Hawaii, overall. Dave Campbell, the master brewer, has also just started brewing an IPA which is very nice. On Wed night, the Aloha Hash House Harriers visit the pub. Great times had by excellent beer drinkers. But they don't have live entertainment on Wed nights anymore.

Sat in the bar at about 2:30 Pm, they were willing to serve lunch but we just had appetizers. Beer was pretty good. I tried the sampler and no complaints about any of them. Then enjoyed a 16 oz Porter. A little too cold but the flavor was still there. Waiter was really friendly and attentive.

Beers were heavily carbonated (as were most of Hawaii's beers)...and they were only serving appetizers at 4 pm. Pretty good food though.

While the beers the best i've ever tasted, they had some unique character and were fairly on the mark. The only disappointing thing about this was that we got there at 2:58 and they wouldn't serve us lunch, because full meal service shuts down between 3 and 5 while they prep for dinner. So we had food off the pub menu. The crabcakes were great, if a little small. I'd give it another shot during a mealtime hour if i ever get back this way...

I visited Sam Choy's for lunch on a weekeday. It was crowded with a decidedly local crowd. I was able to get a seat at the bar and was able to peer into the kitchen to watch the show. I ordered a sampler because I just couldn't decide what I wanted as there was no IPA available. The beers themselves were not really notable. As I write this a week or so later, I can't seem to remember much about them. The portions are huge and this is clearly one of the major league places for a business lunch in Honolulu. I plan on going back again when I am in Hawaii. Sam Choy has a great reputation as a chef, and his stores are clearly popular, but I had higher expectations for the beer. Perhaps a previous review said it best when it suggested that this was a a restaurant that happened to brew it's own beer.

The Beertender spent a great deal of time with me talking brew. It turned out to a good place to relax and talk about the brewery industry in Hawaii. Good experience and I would visit again.

Sam Choy's BLC is the name of the restaurant and the brewery is the Big Aloha Brewery, which is contained in the same building. The beer selection is fair but not great. For instance, when I was there last, they offered a porter but not a stout. The quality of their beer is good but, once again, not great. Why go here then? Simple -- the food. I hate to say this about a brewpub, but I feel that I can in good faith because this is only a quasi-brewpub. More precisely, it's a top-notch restaurant that happens to brew its own creations on the premises. If you have never eaten Sam Choy's food, then you must do so as soon as you can possibly manage it. Those of you that have eaten here (or in any of Sam Choy's establishments) know what I'm talking about. Not only is the quality of the meal top-notch in terms of ingredients and flavor, but the portions leave nothing to be desired (except for a bigger appetite maybe). Try to save some room for dessert and you will not be disappointed. After saying all of that, don't forget to have a brew or two and take a moment to savor the experience. I highly recommend this establishment; I spend quite a bit of time in Honolulu and this is my favorite place to have a meal.

I like more hops in my brew, they were very good tho. The place was crowded when we were there so don't take to much stock in my service rating. Food was really good.
