The Bierhaus is going to be upgrading their beer to include one of East End's new beers, but the main reason I'm reviewing is to let you know about the breweriana museum upstairs. If you like old taphandles, trays, neons, posters, and all that, you gotta stop in here, Jerry's got some VERY cool stuff up on the walls! Ask about it at the bar.

Great stop a few days after Christmas. Friendly crowd, even to my buddy the Eagles fan. Classic corner bar with a great breweriana display, and better than average beer selection.

The Bierhaus features only Pennsylvania Breweries on tap, Where else can you get a 25oz frosted mug for only $2.00. The staff and customers went out of their way to make my visit a memorable one. The Brewania Collection is simply fantastic, ask to see the upstairs museum.

Bierhaus is still open. The breweriana is still intact (I didn't realize that Iron City once produced a stout) and the crowd is very much local to the neighborhood.
The beer selection is mostly macro, plus Yuengling, Pittburgh Brewing products, & Stoudt's Pale Ale. A place to go for a beer & a shot that's a bit off the beaten path.

Okay. If you don't want macrobrew, your choices are essentially limited to Iron City (drink local, ya jerk) and Penn Pilsner (which is REAL local, like a block away). It's a small corner tappy, and the men's room is down a dimly lit stairway with a low overhead. But there's a tremendous display of breweriana here (cans, cone-tops, trays, mini-kegs, tap knobs), some of it fairly rare, and the people are friendly, so stop by and ogle the beer history, have a beer, and relax. The Bierhaus has become a regular Pittsburgh stop for this beer traveller.

It's one of those small bars that you can still get draft beer for under a dollar and imports for $1.75.
