Its great to see a new microbrewery pop up in the south, considering people are starting to realize what REAL beer tastes like. we stopped in on thursday afternoon and we were given a nice personal tour by the brewer himself. he was very honest to say in the tasting room that they had a problem with one of the batches. He also explained they were in the process of expanding the brewery and gave us a look at what was going on.
the bourbon barrel ale was a choice beer for me. it was a full flavored brew with a nice hint of bourbon and a sweet vanilla taste. i left with a growler of it and enjoyed it to the last drop.
the only thing that would be great to see is if the brewer would be able to expand the variety of brews. the south is used to light beers, which i hope to see change as time goes by. Good luck.

The brewery has just mover to this new location, the tasting room is grat styled like an Irish bar, but without the irish...lol, three beers on tap, each very different and very flavourful, take the time , make the trip to visit, the staff are informative, and know about their craft.

After 3 days in a dry county, I was very ready to try the new Kentucky Bourbon Ale at the Bourbon Bar at Blue Gras Airport in Lexington. The bartender at the Bourbon Bar was very informative and a great ambassador for this ale. Very unique flavor with a real hint of Kentucky Bourbon. An excellent ale with a unique twist!

I just want to clarify the info on Lexington Brewing Co. There seems to be confusion between it and Lexington City Brewery which closed a couple years ago. It was a brewpub with decent beer and good food. The location is now a "college" bar, I think,but I have never visited. Kentucky Ale is made by a totally different company and is available in stores. Lexington desperately needs a new brewpub!

This is strictly a microbrewery (not a brewpub; nor does it attempt to be..yet). They make one beer -- Kentucky Ale. It's a very good beer and getting better. Adam, the brewer, took the time to give me a quick tour and taste his product. When in or around Lexington, you should look for this beer. More places are beginning to serve it and it's certainly the best beer to be found in Lexington, which, by the way, is a VERY tough place to find good beer. (Suggest going to the Liquor Barn and getting some great beers to enjoy -- but include a 6 pack of Kentucky Ale!)

Now owned by Alltech (ww.alltech-bio.com), this brewery is producing one product called Kentucky Ale. It is described as a marriage between two beer styles, Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale. It appears to be widely distributed across Kentucky. The website does not indicate that the brewery is generally open to the public.

This establishment is now closed. It's has been bought by a Nicholasville bio-research firm that will use some of the eequipment to further animal food research. However, the new owner says once his primary business is going, he'll start up his own brewing line, as he's a master English brewer. Hope it all happens.

This brewery has been in existence for a couple of years now with little/no press. The dark is actually a very good porter. Another beer made on the premises is making a name for itself on an international level, a new hemp beer. This hemp beer is far better than any others that I have tried, although it is a light pilsner.
