Smugglers has incredible beer and the sweetest waitstaff ever. Now, here's the tough part: I've never seen the owner of a restaurant treat his employees as horrible as I've seen Mike Epps (the OWNER!) treat his. He makes sexist comments towards the ladies, yells at them. One afternoon I was waiting on my Reuben and he actually sent a young girl home because he thought she looked like shit. He yelled that at her, in front of all of the customers. One of the bartenders (she is a bit top-heavy) gets the worst of it: he asks her when she's going to 'sit on his lap" and makes some interesting comments about her clothes. Why don't these girls press charges? Mike is a horrible man, and he's damn lucky to have staff that love their job.

Nice selection of handcrafted ales. The stout was not that impressive, but the IPA and the porter were outstanding. The other beers I sampled were pretty decent.Their No Smoking policy is to be applauded. I am hoping to procure some of Smuggler's kegs for summer league next summer.

It's a must go to pub for a quick bite & brew before or after the show. You name the show bit my favorite is Blues & Brews in September...see you there. Definitely the downstairs tour is worth the trip and discussion on beer, etc

Smuggler's is a must see if you visit Telluride. Go downstairs and visit the brewery! It is something to see! The food is imaginative and the beer is diverse! Ask for the Barley Wine!!!

We were there on a slow weekday afternoon when the wait staff seemed more interested in the locals and maybe co-employees than in customers. Mediocre IPA lacked enough hops for true IPA lovers. Barley wine was well balanced with good flavors.

Smuggler's is located in a remolished historic warehouse a block from the ski lifts. Unique atmosphere with much original surfaces; no smoking; Best appetizer: Mountain Bloom Onion; best entree: Beer marinated ribs. To be fair, know that I am the owner of Baked in Telluride and a partner in Smuggler's. -Jerry Greene
