I tried a sampler ($5.95) as I waited for the baseball game at the nearby Epicenter. California Gold 4.2 very light, Michelob-like; Fields of Wheat 6.0 undistinguished; Compass pale ale 6.0 nice body, medium hops; EPA 6.6 light body, good IPA-style hopping; Black Balled Stout 6.5 great body, good finish, definitely my fave. The brewmaster also pulled some of a new batch of Amber 66 for us, which was flat and not ready for sale until he adjusted the carbonation.

Beer good - beer was better about 3 years ago (Millenium Rye? yummmmm!). Service is sucky - avoid the upper tier dining area like the plague, because you'll die of hunger. New owner, new menu, superb food (Honey-glazed chipotle albacore was FANTASTIC!) and a rather pedestrian selection that's done well, all the same. My fave is the Amber 66, until they start producing some good specialties, as they have in the past. If you came to this place only a year ago, the only food was greasy bar junk that might as well have been Denny's (across the parking lot), so it's improved tremendously. WARNING: after 10, they lease the place out for a local hip hop club and some fool of a bouncer will try to charge you $15 to come in and get a beer. Laugh and walk away - I did.

I was close by here on a recent Friday night, early, on my way back to Vegas and stopped in for one beer. I tried the IPA and what an improvement over last year. Its too soon for me to be totally convinced as it was too busy with a happy hour kind of crowd, I would need to go back when it is slower and try more beers and talk to the staff. But I agree with Carol , seems to be better, if anyone is close by give it another try.

I've only been to this brewery three times, all within the last four months. The beer quality and styles are improving rapidly. I've enjoyed the beers with the higher hop value. If you catch the place with a nice crowd, the atmosphere and attitude are great. I'll be back soon.

Decent brews, although not original in selection of style. The Amber 66 is truly unique in its complexity. Service is poor, even at the bar while the atmosphere is defined by the fact that that this is the only place for the 21-25 crowd on a Saturday night. Food is adequate.

Let me try this again, and please disregard those previous two entries...Horrible horrible place, an embarrassment to microbreweries everywhere.... if you're in the area, Old Baldy in Upland or Main Street in Corona (my home pub) are the only places worthwhile anymore... even Riverside BC is worthless at this point

This place should be avoided. This is sad with the minor league park within walking distance. The beer has no imagination, no flavor, no body. Go to Main Street in Corona instead (avoid Mt. Baldy, though)

Well, haven't been here in awhile, and after visiting yesterday, probably won't go back for awhile... They had four beers on tap, and although my girlfriend and I got 12 oz beers for $1 each, they were probably only worth about that much. Started with the stout, first 6 oz were terrible, but as my mouth adjusted to the taste, the last 6 oz were merely bad... moved onto the pale ale next, one of the worst beers I have ever had at a microbrewery, very low in hops for a p.a..... finished up with the amber, which i remember being fairly good the last few times i had been there, and this, while not as bad as the pale ale, was still pretty darn bad... my girlfriend has the california gold, and while this was probably the best of the four beers, that is only because this beer was made to be inoffensive at best... all in all, the worst selection of beer I have ever had in all my years of touring microbreweries... the good side of the place, the bartenders/servers seem very good, and a possible explanation for the bad beer (although the quality of beer here has been going downhill since shortly after they opened) is that there is a relatively new owner of the place... good luck to him in getting this place back on track, because right now, this place is woefully inadequate... If you're in the Inland Empire and want good beer, certainly don't stop here... either head down the 15 to Corona's Main Street Brewing Co., or west on the 10 to Upland's Old Baldy Brewing Co. Both of these places are excellent... they may not be as pretty as Compass Creek, but they certainly blow away the beer selection and the atmosphere

The beer in general is nothing spectacular, seems like they are just going for the non-offensive beers.

Excellent wheat beer. I even liked it when it was "stuffy and expensive". Of course, I even liked it when it was a topless club about 10 years ago (and later a church!?). Seriously, better than average pub fare and some really interesting brews. Worth going to before a Quake game. Heck, you won't miss anything if you get to the Epicenter in the 4th inning.

Mystic7 here. I want to update on behalf of Compass Creek. New brewer, bigger better menu, more cuter and friendlier staff!! All Good things. First the beer. New brewer Tracy Simmons has 8 beers on tap at almost all times. (It used to be 3-6 depending). Rasberry Blonde(for now), seasonals(right now an excellent and strong alt bier), and the standards. Always on. Big improvement. Second, Excellent menu. Huge and tasty sandwiches to steaks. They just get better and better. Third and best. The beautiful girls now get to dress like beatiful girls. I guess an old, now gone, manager had issue with sexy. The new guys don't and the staff love it which just makes the whole place Much much better. Still great bands and awesome atmosphere. Yes I am biased. I have always liked the place but now there is really nothing to compare it to out here for all around everything. Toast ya when I see ya. Mystic7 out in the sticks of Rancho Cucamonga!

I just read the reviews and have to defend my little slice of beer heaven. CC National is VERY different from when it opened. It used to be expensive and stuffy. It is neither of those things now. Thats why Craig explained the name change. They have pool tables and darts and games and cheaper menu prices with more selection. They really matured well and that's why I go there often. Especially for our outlying area this is a very cool place to hang. If you havn't been there in the last three of four months go back now.

It has become my local place. Very cool inside, good bands, cute and friendly girls and lots of regulars. I eat there usually twice a week and some appetizers and the selection makes it easy. The beer is truly "the best beer in California" as they advertise. This has spoiled me in a good way.

I really liked their Commisioner Stout. I am a BIG Stout fan. For a change, I also like their Compas Kolsch. The Kukumonga Wheat beer was good, but wheat beers I usually stay away from. They also had the Pale Creek Ale, Amber 66 and the Rancho Red. I think if I had to pick a bad one, the Pale Creek Ale would be it. Over-all, their beer selection was GREAT and I really enjoyed the Commisioner Stout a lot. The chili bowl in a bread bowl was FANTASTIC!!!. You have to like spice food thouhg. Although this will not burn your stomach lining, It is a tad bit on the spicy side, which is good for me. Maybe I'll see some of you their. This is a wonderful place to visit.

This was my secon visit. My 1st visit was before CC was offically open. The beers seem to be more refined now. Tried the hefe and oatmeal stout. Stout was tasty but too thin for my tastes. Hefe was average. Food is done well.

Tucked away in a little shopping center near the fine Epicenter minor league ballpark, this new brewpub has an attractive design. On the day of my visit about six beers were available. As a whole, the brews were rather thin and watery, lacking in body, and generally uninspiring. However, I did like the red ale (an unusual occurrence) for its interesting maltiness. I did not opt for the food, but the menu specials offered some fresh fish preparations. Service left a lot to be desired. Since it's the only brewpub for miles around, I suppose it is worth another visit, but there is much room for improvement here.

Compass Creek recently opened, which explains some of its short comings. The beer selection is standard: Pale Ale, Wheat Beer, Amber/Red Beer and Stout. The one exception was the Compass Kolsch, a very light bodied ale, which seems perfect for the upcoming summer; very refreshing. Two downsides to the beer: until I ordered a chili bowl (very good) all the beers seemed not to attain their peak flavor - even the stout. Which is the second downside: the Commissioner Stout was overwhelmed by the roasting taste, though it was lessened by the end of the glass. This may be a personal taste, but roasting should not block out the malt nor hops. Two more beers were said to be 'Planned'. I hope for the best. The ambience is definitely leaning toward an upscale market, not those of the ballpark next door. Their menu seems aimed that way as well, though not completely. Overall, I'm hopeful. It may take some time for the Compass Creek Brewing Co. to reach its full potential. It has a very good start.
