We must have arrived during a dead time 'cause we got little attention. The Possum Porter was a stout, but didn't taste like 6.6%. The IPA (6.8%) was cloudy. It was hoppy, of course, and tasted cleaner than some. Couldn't stay, and didn't see a reason to do so.

We are frequent visitors here, and return because of the high quality of the beer, food AND service. Beer selections rotate, indicating the high volume of beer sold. I'm a huge fan of the IPA; true "over-the-top" hops make it an IPA lovers dream come true. The food has never disappointed us -- fresh and served up by friendly helpful staff.

You wont find fresher, better tasting beer anywhere between bakersfield and the bay. The honey wheat is my personal favorate, but there are many other really good beers. I recomend you start right off with the sampler. Thats a sample 6 or so ounce glass of every beer they have on tap at .75 cents a pop. plus they throw in their rotational homeade sodas for free. usually three of them, root beer and oarnge cream are the best. Raspberry apple and regular apple is good for the ladies and i'll admit i get it every once in a while too.

Cozy little brewpub in the heart of d'town Visalia. The town has a good vibe about it and it reflects in BrewBakers. Got there shortly after opening on a Sunday so dealing with a crowd wasn't a problem. Tried a Marzen to start with.It seemed a bit weak in color and flavor so I switched to the Sequioa Red. Much, much better. Ordered the Santa Fe pizza which was loaded with jalapenos. Definitely got the sweat glands going and that's a good thing. Keeps the beer flowing. Rounded out the visit with the Porter.Good smoky flavor.A positive note to end a pleasurable experience on.

I'm not too hip about the name. What would be wrong with Kings River Brewing Co? ANyway, nice place in downtown, the beer was good and they had nachos - a mark of any good brewpub.

I was coming home from Sequoia Natl Park today and had to pass through Visalia en route across the San Joaquin Valley to the Bay Area. I had seen a small ad for this place in a free flyer in the park, and thought, "fresh brew...in Visalia?"
My desperation overcame my snobbery and how glad I am of that. I will NEVER disparage Visalia again (but Fresno, you are still on the hook).
The IPA was the best California IPA I have had outside of the Anderson Valley, where Hop Ottin comes from. Brewbaker has HOPPY IPA with none of the cloying maltiness of some wannabes, and weighs in at an honest 6.3. If you want malty beer, get a red something. Brewbaker had that too, along with a full range from Pale to Marzen. They were out of stout, but it was in the kettle brewing. Wouldn't have mattered, I was stuck on the IPA from the get go.
The blackened salmon caesar was HUGE and with fresh valley lettuce, spicy croutons, and homemade garlic dressing, not to be beaten.
If you are stuck on Highway 99 going from Bakersfield to Sac-town, there is hope, traveler. it's on Main Street, Visalia.

Super local establishment. The beers are thoughtful and well executed. IPA is a favorite, with a fruity nose and good finish. Looking forward to the Imperial Stout. Have had nothing but exceptional service; ask for Randy or Kelly for a very personal touch, not to mention all the local intel on good mountain biking. The garlic fries are also a hit, and anytime you can find the smoked salmon chowder you'd be remiss not to try it. Can be very busy, but there aren't any other places in the area of this caliber.

I enjoyed everything about my service at brewbakers I loved the IPA. I took a break from my dining to sit at the bar and knock back a few I found the bartender who consequently was the manager was quite rude. I dont think I will be going back their anytime soon.

I have been frequenting this brewery since they opened. Their food is very good PUBGRUB. The beer selection in normally top notch and the quality of the beer is almost always excellent. I recomend the stouts and ales. The bartenders and waiters are all super friendly and the atmosphere is very comforting. If you are ever in Visalia this is a must see. Stop in and down a pint.

Almost always busy - be prepared to wait a while if you're going after 6 on the weekend. Waitstaff is helpful and friendly, beers are good (must ditto the "stay away from the IPA" comments - Sequoia Red is fabulous), and there is always a large selection. However, I mainly go for the food - if you leave without tasting the garlic fries, you've definitely missed out.

The Sequoia Red was excellent, full bodied, rich taste. The marzen was pretty darn good as well, although maybe just a bit short on body and flavor, but I had two pints just to be sure. I recommend the California pizza and the chili.

Porter had a good finish, tasted good at first, but then aquired a dirty flavor. The scent of the red was better than the taste (tasteless). IPA was extremely hoppy but had a good finish. The club sandwich was awesome, one of the best ever, piled a mile high served with real garlic fries.

Nice setup in downtown Visalia. I liked their very caramel doppelbock and the Sherman Stout (pints $3.50). Individual pizza ($8.95) was also good.

Good beer supplemented by tasty sandwiches and a welcoming atmosphere. I would recomend Brewbakers to anyone visiting the area. It's one of the few quality establishments to visit in Visalia.

Real nice brewery! They had a "Nut Brown" that was out of this world. The only one I did not care for was the Indian Pale Ale. This brewery also made 3 sodas; Rootbeer, Orange Cream and Green Apple. The Rootbeer was very, very creamy. The Orange Cream tasted like a 50-50 bar and the Green Apple... never tasted anything like it before. I think the Green Apple was the best. Any way, the beer... The Nut Brown was by far the best. They also had a Stout and a Double Buzz Stout that was great. They brew 10 beers in all but they only had 7 to serve. Great Place!

The beer selection was outstanding. The brewer brews out of the box. They had a marzen, doppelbock, dunkelweizen, and a wit when I was there. The only "formula" beer they had was a red. I was impressed that a small town place would be brewing such unusual beers for a brewpub. However, the stout was my favorite. Their growlers are significantly more expensive than the Bulldog Brewery in Fresno. Best deal anywhere. Growlers for 7 bucks.

This is my favorite of several brewpubs in California. I especially like the IPA and the Hillbilly barley Wine. Though I don't go there for the food, I always look forward to the salmon soup.

Small place with the tanks just directly behind the bar counter (you can almost touch it). Very nice smoky porter and IPA. They were out of the stout when I was there. I will have to make another trip.

Their Imperial Stout is to die for! Too bad they only brew about 1 batch a year. But, as with other things, the anticipation only enhances the experience.

I was there once just after they openes. We had waited months for this to happen.
Unfortunately, so early on the beer was not good. I hope they have been able to settle down with a good product now.

The sampler we tried had 8 beers and 3 sodas. Most of the beers were nondescript, including their flagship red. The stout is a good, toasty brew, and one of the rotational beers, EPA, was quite good. A great respite for travelers in the San Joaquin Valley, especially since Bootlegger's seems to have closed.

The selection of beers are great and ever-changing due to limited brewing space. The brewery has a great atmosphere but is somewhat crowded due to the small space this brewery is nestled in. I would highly recommend giving Brewbakers a try, you'll be sure to find something you like. Enjoy!!!!

Just opened up so place was jam packed so service was a little slow but waitresses were friendly and tried hard. I had the beer sampler and was amazed to receive 9 beers and a home brewed root beer. Selection was awesome and the beer was great with the exception of their blonde. It was quite mediocre and what I'd call a learners beer. However their red was a beautiful copper flavor and portrayed a nice balance between hops and malts. The stout also was quite noteworthy being very creamy with a richness of flavors. Food was good and appetizing but pretty much standard basic fare. Hopefully food menu will improve.
