Place is closed with realty signs all over. If someone doesn't pick it up, brewing equipment was still visible in the windows.

The best beer we found in Alaska - and 3 cheers for the soup nazi! The staff was friendly and helpful, and we found a home away from home.

Great Bear was a stop on our 2 week Alaska tour in August of 2004. What aa awesome place. It's in a shopping mall with a small packed parking lot. It was full of local patrons in the late afternoon when we went in for a snack. Their beers did not disapoint! Their IPA was on cask. It was a big, bold IPA that was very pleasing to the palate. The pale, stout, and Big Sue were also delicious. Food was incredible! Try the halibut nuggets. I never had fresher tasting halibut in my life! Service was very friendly. Most people in Alaska are friendly. Well worth making a trip to Wasilla.

GREAT place! Good selection of beers and superb food. The white fish soup was excellent. Try it with the IPA.

Wasilla is about a 45 minute drive from Anchorage. It is worth the trip. The food was very good. They even have a kids menu (a plus for my family). The Pale Ale is a nice hopped ale. The stout a nice dry Irish style. The Oatmeal Porter was not to my liking, but my wife found nice whiskey-like notes in it. Once again, Alaska beer does not disappoint!

This brewpub just opened up this summer. They are located in a small shopping plaza just off the Parks Highway (Route 3). They had five beers at the time of my visit: Skwentna Stout, Blackberry, Archangel Amber, Hatcher Pass Ale, and Gold. All had excellent qualities which was surprizing for a new establishment. Food and service were also great. Worth the short drive from Anchorage.
