I wish there was a place to rate the owner, who is pure awesomeness! I wish they did more styles year round, their seasonals are the best part. Go, taste everything, see what you like and roll with it. Come for the beer. . . stay for the show! ;-)

the extremely personable owner has hit upon an idea which has long been overdo in this area: brewing beer which is light years away from Bud and the rest of the mass market crap, while keeping the price low and the taste a little less "in your face", than some of the available craft brews. The Cricket Hill Beers are not the equivalent of Troeg's or Victory, but the3y don't cost as much and ANYBODY would drink them. With so many Coor's light and corona drinkers around it's tough to procure beer for a get together if one refuses to buy such slop. By the same token it makes no sense to buy a good micro because your guests will make a face and ask for Amstel light when offered a bottle of Hop Devil. Mr. Reed has struck the happy medium. None of his brews would "offend" the Heineken drinker, while still retaining enough body and flavor to please a microbrew fan, at a very reasonable price. Cricket Hill is now my choice for parties.

Hopnotic IPA and Colonel Blide's Bitter are superb. The ale, lager and cask conditioned are also splendid, but the best thing about this place is the free tour every Friday 5-7pm.

CH now has a cask-conditioned ale on tap at the Cloverleaf Tavern. I had some recently & it was awesome.

Rick Reed the brewer is such a great guy, you cannot help but love the beer. Only found in a few local bars, it's a great find. Both the lager & ale are worth trying & trying again.

Recently sampled the lager and found it very bland. Not much different than any genric mass-produced beers.

Definately a brewery worth trying out.Though small, Cricket Hill brews two beers worth the visit. The East Coast Lager is very good and the All American Red Ale is excellent. The owner,Rick Reed, is knowledgable and personable. I toured the brewery after work with some friends and had a terrific time. For those who like good beers, Cricket Hill Brewing Co. is worth visiting.

Right now the beer is tap only in the Morris/Essex counties of NJ. I had the pleasure of trying some of their offerings at a recent beer dinner and was impressed. The American Ale (hope that's the right name) was excellent. I hope to see them more often.
