The Deutsches Haus is still going strong. Now in its 76th year, the Haus should not be overlooked by beer lovers visiting New Orleans. A recent addition to the beer menu is Kostritzer Bock. Coming up soon is Fasching, a great opportunity to watch the huge Endemion Mardi Gras Parade from a comfortable base. In the late spring/early summer will be Volksfest, a long running German celebration. The trolley car line has been rebuilt along Canal Street, and when it begins running this Spring it will stop only a block from the Haus. As an educational, non-profit a bit off the beaten path, prices are lower than most places serving good beer. For a bit of one part of Real N'awlins, stop by!

Founded in 1928, this nonprofit society is dedicated to German culture. The emphasis is on beer! The Haus is open Wed, Thur, Fri evenings throughout the year and during the fall has five weekends of Oktoberfest. A selection of German beers is always on tap. The local homebrewers' association meets here once a month and many of the 'regulars' are home brewers. It is also the base for the local Beer Stein collectors' club. Good German food is available during Oktoberfest and other special occasions, as is live German music. While the beer selection is smaller than a modern beer bar, you can't get more beer-friendly than the Deutsches Haus!
