Now it is Wunder Beer, but I am under the impression that it is the same owners as Eldos. Still undrinkable crap.

Eldo's is closed. The Wunder Beer Brewery now occupies this location. And Wunder Beer is better beer!

Bleh. Flavorless beer absent of any character or body. So disappointing, as this is the former location of the Golden Gate Park Brewery, which was awesome.
Not worth a trip even to try it.

The Vienna Lager is excellent and there were seven other beers available. Pints are $4.00. After spending several days in San Fran I decided this was my favorite neighborhood, but not my favorite brewery. Grab a bus or walk up to Haight Street for the best beer in town. This place feels forced chic; it's trying to be hip but doesn't quite pull it off.

Kind of an upscale place for my taste but it fits in with the neighborhood. Parking is an adventure but it's a short walk from Golden Gate Park. The "N Judah" train does rumble by quite often making this native son a bit uneasy (Is it the BIG ONE?!). They had six beers on tap but the Vienna Lager was out. Had a couple glasses of the Nine Ball Pilsener while waiting for my food. Good but nothing spectacular. Ordered a chicken chimichanga. A bit pricey but it was a load and was stuffed with chicken. The menu leans toward Mexican food and Tapas. Finished off the visit with a pint of Stow Lake Stout. It was definitely better than the pilsener but I've had better. For the atmosphere, beer quality and menu selectons I'd probably go to the Thirsty Bear on the other side of the city close to the Moscone Center.

I hadn't been to Eldo's in a couple of years so thought I would visit again. I am sorry that I had been away so long. The food was fabulous...big burger with apple smoked bacon...yum. I started with the pilsner (very good), ordered the double IPA (I didn't get the double IPA, but the beer I had...a pale ale, was excellent), next I moved on to the IPA (good but nothing too special), I then had the dry stout on nitrogen (good, but a little sour for the style). My buddy had the Pale (excellent), Vienna lager (excellent), Porter (one of the best) and something else I can't remember. My wife drove home.

My brother in law and I stopped in for a quick sampler the Monday after Christmas. They had 8 beers on tap and the complete roundup was only $4 which I think is a pretty decent deal. They are making some true lagers, which is a welcome change to the rigors of west coast ale. They had a pils which was well balanced, maybe a little on the malty side. IPA was a little confused but the standard pale was very nice. The barleywine was typical of the style but I have a hard time with those beers, even in the coldest of climates. I liked the porter in particular, very toasty and extremely drinkable. The brewer, Joe Agrillo, happened to be sitting next to me and the bartender introduced us. He was also drinking the porter! Joe said Eldos is still running the 15 barrel Liquid Assets system inherited from Golden Gate and he is very comfortable with it. Joe has brewed in a number of places around the west coast (for such a young guy!) and I think he'll do well there. It's a nice facility in a bustling residential neighborhood and should make a go of it. As my in laws live just up the hill, I hope to make it in there agin some time. Have fun !

Nice place to visit, but I woulnd't want to drink there (again). Pale ales significantly lacked character. Hefe/Wit had off flavors not characteristic to the style.

Californicator Dopplebock was not bad (it's maltiness was a little different). Stow Lake Stout is just OK (tastes fine but too water for a stout). Golden State Ale, Nine Ball Pilsener, and Great White Wheat are just ho hum average versions of their various beer styles. JPA IPA is a below average IPA. There wasn't one beer that I really liked a lot here but I guess there was only one I disliked. Honey BBQ ribs were bad news. Atmosphere is OK but the odd paintings on the wall and carosel horses are a little too cutesy for a brewpub IMHO.

The service was great, but it was the Bartender's last night. The Pils, IPA, and Dunkle were good. We enjoyed it, and could take the Steetcar back.

This new brewpub is on 9th street just south of Golden Gate Park, right on the train line. Eldos occupies the location of the former Golden Gate Brewery. It is a fairly contemporary place with a upstairs dining area along one side of the long narrow building opposite the bar. The brew tanks are in the back and up high level with the upper seating. There were three house beers on tap during my visit - a pilsner, a Vienna style amber and a Munich style dark (the most interesting of the three). They also brew a pale ale which was not available that evening. Eldos offers numerous guest taps of other West Coast craft beers and some imports. I arrived after the kitchen had closed on a slow weeknight, but the bartender seemed proud of the chef and his menu, and said business was generally good. I give Eldos qualified "Good" ratings, recognizing that they are still quite new.
