A surprising find on a recent trip. Unassuming exterior, but a well-worn, comfortable brick interior. Formerly a general store from the late 1800s--cool and laid back. 14 taps of various styles and probably 400 or so bottles covering the gamut of imports and micros. Had a relaxing breakfast/brunch (Eggs Benedict were super!) and some local brews. Brianna on the bar was very pleasant and helpful. Just a stone's throw away from the Gilded Otter.

I love this bar! The selection is the best I've seen. They've got beer from all over the world. And a passport you can use, mark off each country you've "visited", and when you've filled up your card, get a Bacchus T-shirt. A very fun idea. The food is great and the people there are so friendly. They've opened up the billiard room on the other side of the bar so you can play while you perouse the different beer. There are tables if you want to sit and eat, or you can eat at the bar. Definitely a place you can go and relax with some friends. One of my favorite bars.

The only bar in New Paltz i really like.The beer list has 300 beers on it from all over the world.I also like the staff their all good people.

Bacchus has a tremendous variety of bottled beers for all over the world. The food was also excellent, as we ordered the pizza, quesadillas, veggie burger, and omelettes, and everybody at the table was raving abouut their meal. This place is very kid-friendly too!

Don't let the name fool you: Bacchus may be the wine deity, but this place has 13 taps and over 250 bottles of beers. This is the place for beer variety in New Paltz; hit it before or after the Gilded Otter. Very comfy place, lots of dark wood and plants, but not a fern-bar.
