Well there you have it Larry Lunchbucket's version of a good beer hall. Next time we'll throw some sawdust on the floor and import some skanks from the East County to make him feel more at home. Or better yet maybe they can install one of those trough urinals so he ogle other men's manhood.
If you can't find a beer you like at the Yard house you may as well be dead and if you can't handle sophistication then please scoot down to the rescue mission. There's plenty of your ilk there.

I was attending a concert at Spreckles to see Brigth Eyes. They were selling overpriced cans of miller lite for five bucks. I couldn't endure the pain of handing 5 dollars plus a tip to a spreckles representative for a not-so-tasty miller lite. I ran out of Spreckles and saw THE YARD HOUSE light up from the nightsky. I ran over there with my friend...we downed 3 shots of tequila which weren't cheap, however it was fast service. Aside from the fact that the place was filled 30-40 year old pretentiousness...anything ranging from dudes wearing pink buttoned up collared shirts, and the girls wearing 900 dollar skirts...I ENJOYED IT. But wait one thing..I couldn't stand taking a piss downstairs...and to my dismay some bathroom attendant was handing me a towel anticipating a buck or two from me. Come on people....its YARD HOUSE...not the MARRIOT. Why are they starting to throw transient idiots into bathrooms expecting us to tip them. I can see if I was drinking in Vegas at a pretentious hotel, but this was THE EFFING YARD HOUSE. MY advice...don't use the bathroom at THE YARD HOUSE, then again this doesn't surprise me...considering every establishment downtown has a bathroom attendant.

Strangely, the locals all said to stay away. You never want to offend the locals, BUT this is a perfect example of the adage "If you build it, they will come." 107 taps of pure heaven at the undisputed beer mecca of SD. Happy hour prices of $2.75 had me singing. Interesting crowd and 1/2 price appetizers to boot. Tried a number of different beers including: Stone Pale, Firehouse Pale, Coronado Mermaid Red, Ballast Yellow Tail Pale, and fresh from Hawaii Kona Fire Rock Pale. All beers to my surprise and pleasure were fresh and very satisfying. In addition, the bartenders were extremely attentive and efficient. Could have saved myself a long walk if I had beelined it here from the start. In the end, it was a fine afternoon of pubcrawling. Yes indeed Virginia, SD definitely has a flourishing beer scene for all tastes.

Incredible selection of beer--most you've probably never heard of. The food is equally as impressive.

Awe-inspiring selection of beer in a futuristic-looking establishment. All of the employees looked completely stressed-out, which is amazing with so much beer around ;) The selections were overpriced, but there's so much to choose from that you really don't notice. I feel I need to come back here multiple times to really appreciate what the place has to offer.

Excellent selection of interesting microbrew beers. Somewhat spotty service. Interesting but somewhat pricey entrees, not your usual pub fare. Beware - waitstaff consistently recommend the most expensive menu items.

The pub is located near the gas lamp district in downtown San Diego. A good location and was easy walking distance from the hotel I was staying in. Many beers (100 or more?) on tap. Their web site advertised Stone Brewery Beers, a favorite of mine and prompted my visit. The food was in my opinion was average or better standard pub fare. Many brews on taps that I simply can't get in the midwest.

Tons of good beers, annoying tourist/yuppie/chain atmosphere, and overpriced. There are too many good locally owned places to get good beer in San Diego to waste your time on this place.
