This place is too small very messy and the service is probably the worst in rochester, as the staff is more interested in drinking or talking than serving. With so many great bars close by I don't why any body sets foot in this dive.

I should add 2 things: (1) during happy hour, they also have $1.50 pints of Sally's Amber, a house beer brewed by Custom Brewcrafters in nearby Honeoye Falls, a flavorful beer that should satisfy most microbrew aficionadoes; (2) Salinger's is in the East End district, which, for those of you not familiar with Rochester, has a pretty high concentration of bars, and is also not far from Alexander St., Rochester's biggest (maybe only) true bar "strip." A good area to hang out in if you're from out of town and want to sample some local nightlife. (But stay away from deserted streets late at night as there have been some robberies recently. If need be, take a cab.)

Reasonably good selection of draft beer, and a good selection of micros in bottles. If you're satisfied with macrobrews like Molson, pints are only $1.50 during happy hour. Service is excellent. Chances are you'll have a fresh pint in front of you before you even finish the one you've got. It can get pretty crowded late weekend nights. Happy hour crowd ranges from 20s to 60s and beyond, but the average age drops as the night wears on. Used to get terribly smoky, but that's changed with the new law in NY. Has one pool table and the usual video games. No food, but free peanuts at all times.
