Coming December 2006, Hurricane Brewing Company will reopen the downtown Mobile, Alabama brewpub. Extensive internal and external renovations and hurricane repairs are nearly complete. New local ownership and management under Henry Arrington, a former Gritty McDuff's (Portland, Maine) brewer. Todd G. Hicks will be retained in the head brewer's position brewing English style ales and lagers. The menu will be upscale pub entrees and express lunch and appetizers.

The Downtown Mobile, AL brewpub will be reopening December 2006 under new ownership and management as Hurricane Brewing Company. The interior and exterior of the brewpub has been remodeled to a more open pub feel, while most of the kitchen and bar equipment has been replaced and upgraded. Closed and out of business. Corporation is dissolved and property is up for sale. Sale should take place very quickly but the brewery's fate are uncertain. Updates about the new establishment will be updated as soon as they are available and confirmed.

I tried a raspberry flavored German brew. I have never before tasted such a sweet beer. It was a bit much for my taste. The gumbo was the best I have ever tried.

Not a lot to choose from as far as brewpubs go in this part of the country, but this one is worth my driving 50 miles each way to visit. Made it during Oktoberfest. Great Oktoberfest brew! Good Oktoberfest menu with lots of brats and kraut. Very comfortable in a section of Mobile that resembles the French Quarter of New Orleans.

We stopped by Mr Jim's for lunch before we toured the USS Alabama. The food was great and so was the beer. I started out with a sampler and didn't find one that didn't like. Great family place they also brew their own Root Beer and the kids loved it. Well worth stopping by.

Stopped by on a recent trip to Florida. Chatted with brewmaster Todd Johnson and enjoyed all of the selections. The Red Jacket Ale and Iron Clad Stout were the favorites. Call ahead if you are arriving on Sunday, they may not be open.

Ipa is the best along with the brewers choice. Food is great. Pizza is brick oven cooked and crust is spiced up making for one of the best

I went out of my way to try this place en route home from Pensacola because I've long been fond of the one in Columbus, Ga. The pizza is an excellent complement for their beer at both locations. Atmosphere is a Civil War motif. I'll be back.

Now has full menu with good selection of items. Beer great espically the high hopped pale ale and the Red Jacket. They shoot a small (but loud) cannon on Fridays to start the weekend.

They were still in their "dry run" during our visit so they had a sample menu. The food was good and our server was outstanding. Most importantly, the beer was good. It was the the finestbrew I have ever tasted, however, the stout was very good with a choclate after taste. And the pale ale was really good-very hoppy which I like. I particularly like a brown ale which they did not serve on the regular menu. I will keep an eye out for when they have a seasonal ale.
