Very eclectic place and clientele. No tourists (well, we were), no smoking inside (yes!). Outdoor patio for smokers. Decent but not great beer selection on draft. Very friendly neighborhood bar and restaurant. We didn't eat here but would be willing ... the menu was small and offbeat.

The Westville is a classic neighborhood bar. My wife especially likes that it is smoke-free. The food is standard pub fare and there are about a dozen draft selections along with another 15-20 bottle choices most of the time. Clinetele range from hippies to suits with everything in between. The atmosphere is very friendly. Worth looking for as it's off the usual tourist route.

The bar is very loud and difficult to move in.
The service is slow and the food is overpriced for the low quality.
The beer is never cold and often served in freshly washed and heat dried glasses.
I hate panning this bar because I live down the street and really wish I had a good pub to frequent in west Asheville.

Easily the best pub in west Asheville. They don't have a huge beer selection, maybe a dozen taps, probably two dozen bottles but it covers a good range and they don't waste any taps on low end mass-produced stuff. They have an eclectic but interesting menu as well. Try the hummus (it's Asheville, you should always try the hummus). There's occassionally live music as well, their website seems to be up to date in general.
