A lot of things have changed at Bites and Brews. It seems like they are growing up a little and trying out some new things. The thing that I like about the place is that they change their beer with the seasons. I know a lot of places might throw on a Hefe for the summer, but Bites has a couple more selections in bottles and on draft than the usual place does. By far one of my favorite places in the city.

Right on, Lew! I went to this palce about a week ago. All my friends go there after work for pint. Well, all my friends must LOVE crappy beer. What a waste of taps! all middle of the road, straw colored lagers and ales. Oh, wait, they do have Guiness, the token "dark" beer. Has anyplace in PGH heard of a thing called "varying tastes", or maybe "selection"?

A few updates. B&B is owned by the same folks who own Elbow Room next door. They do accept credit cards now as well. Beer-wise, B&B offers 45 bottles & 30 taps. While there aren't as many interesting beers as you might think out of 75 choices, still, there are 75 choices - although the Allagash Grand Cru was a bit off when I was there.
Atmosphere is really that of a sandwich shop.

Bites & Brews is a new place, right next to the Elbow Room on Ellsworth. It's a pizza and sandwich joint (FYI: cash only), done in industrial HoJo orange, which I hate. THIRTY taps, but what a waste of lines: this is the most mediocre line of thirty craft/import taps I've seen in years. Some very cautious wholesaler rep must have picked these. The only out of the ordinary selections when I visited were Allagash Grand Cru and Young's Ramrod; good beers, and that's why I upped the selection rating to "Good," but all alone in a selection of taps you could easily find elsewhere in the city. Bottle selection was even worse. Yawn.
