Independence has begun bottling their beers and they can be found locally in Austin at the Whip In, Grapvine Market, Whole Foods & Central Market to name a few. The pale and the brown are my new favorites.

I had the pale ale and the brown ale at Gingerman in Austin. The Pale Ale was served very cold but the tastes still came through. Not much smell but this beer is well balanced and with enough hops for the hophead in ya..
Brown ale-very sweet, this beer has a lot of body and is very drinkable nontheless. Not a session beer in any sense..
Overall Independence seems to be on the right track-hopefully they'll continue to brew other styles. Good job guys..

I visited this microbrewery on 1/8/05. They are currently producing three beers; a brown, a pale ale and an american wheat. The brown was closer to a porter, but it was very drinkable. The pale ale was hopped with Saaz and Cascade hops. It had a very green flavor to it. The American Wheat was fine although it is not my favorite style. The brewery tour was not very organized although it should get better with time. They plan to offer a tour the first saturday of the month. During the tour each guest is given four coupons for beer samples. They serve the samples in 8 oz plastic cups. Pint glasses are available for $5 at the brewery. I imagine I will be back to check on their progess. Their beers are currently only available on tap at local bars. Bottling is set for sometime in the future.

The Brown Ale is a particularly tasty beer, with some interesting complexity and body. The Pale is pretty good; as far as pales go in Texas, its one of the better crafted ones. Not as robust as many California Pales, but well rounded. I'd give them two thumbs up!
