Have to admit I was a bit disappointed in this place when I was there recently. I've always had good service and great tasting Guinness there, but this time around the service left a lot to be desired - I was routinely ignored when my glass was empty and had to wait longer than others to have it refilled. And the Guinness didn't taste as creamy as it usually does. Hopefully this was a one-off, but I don't think I'll be going out of my way to get back here anytime soon. Though, for others, as mentioned below, the beer on tap is decent, but the real fun is the crowd of people dancing to Irish music, plus some of the good bands they get here. This place is the only authentic Irish pub in the region.

Can't believe this old-school Strip District staple just now made its way to this database. One of the best "hang-out" bars in Pittsburgh -- a quieter, roomier place than Fat Head's or Smokin' Joe's. Better known for its atmoshere and live Celtic music sessions than its beer selection. As you might expect, standard British Isles fare like Guinness, Bass, Harp, Boddington's, etc., a handful of regional/national craft-beers like Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada, and a couple Mass-Crap taps like Bud & Coors. Bottom line: unexceptional as a beer palace but clearly the best (only?) trad-Celtic music venue in the city.

The beer selection is ok, usual Irish fair. Harp, Guiness, Smithwicks, etc. All good beers served with care and quality. Food is above standard bar food, but below great. Where this bar provides great basics, it shines with bar character. A true Irish pub with no pretenses. Live music on most nights. Great people, great times, and overall a great place to burn a night in. I highly recommend checking their calander of events on their web site.
