My initial first thought of this establisment or should I say first regret was that I didn't bring a flashlight. After 10 minutes of hoping my eyes adapted to the ambient light, I eventually broke down and used my wife's bic lighter to read the menu. Having lighted my way thru the beer choices, I settled for a Draft Guiness ($5.50). A risky choice, I thought, since I only usually trust bottles...The beer, unfortunately, reinforced my homebrewed prujudice against draft beer and was most definately watered down.
My wife and I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money, so seeing that the entrees were a bit pricey for a quick Saturday bite we decided on the pub sandwiches: meatloaf sandwich ($8.99) for me and the Claddagh bar burger ($8.99) for my wife. The menu said that they both came with pub fries and cole slaw so we didn't see the need for any appetizers. When we got our food, we were amused at the laughable portions of cole slaw we received. Have you ever seen a 3 oz dixie cup?...Now cut that in half. That was the size of our cole slaw tease.
My meatloaf sandwich was fine...tasty. My wife's bar burger, however didn't come with any accroutements and we had to search around for mustard. She ate the burger but in her grand style couldn't finish it and gave me her last few bites. It could have been the fact that I was full, already, but the burger was exceedingly greasy to me. I mentioned it to my wife and she agreed so it was a consensus.
We asked for the bill. Unlike the time between when we first sat down and got served, or the time it took to get my Guiness, or the time it took to find the mustard, the waiter returned with our bill, lickety-split! We paid the $33.33 bill and left. Hope this helps!

My wife and I make it a point to stop in here whenever we are in the area at lunch or dinner time. The meals are well prepared, nicely presented, and always larger than we expect, even after eating here so many times. We love the selection of beers and often try one we've never tasted before.

This fits in nicely in the Irish Concepts that have come out in the last five years. The pub stays true to the concepts we Americans have grwon to love. The beer selection is a little better than the average pub. They do have Smithwicks which is a rare treat. They also carry the regular domestics, along with an assortment of bottle beer. The food is what makes this place different. The Irish Stew, is great. Thick beefy stew with a savory gravy. This is all served over mashed potatoes that are seasoned well. The Rueben is standard. The Fried Fish is very good and the portions are HUGE. Beware that some of the meals do no come with salads. On more than one occasion, I ordered a meal and was asked "What dressing on your salad?" Only later to find a salad was extra and they were trying to upsale. The place is quiet at lunch and pretty busy at diiner. There is free valet parking, so this is a plus on Haggarty! Try the Claddagh, just go hungry and prepare to eat!
