Good beer selection...not MacGregor's, but still excellent. Plus 2 fers before 7. Pizza was excellent, service friendly, and customers were entertaining?, for lack of a better word. One of my favorite stops in Rochester...in fact I'm heading there tonight!!!

Acme has been my favorite bar in Rochester ever since Macgregors (Gregory St. location) shut down. A great selection of beers and great pizza and calzones. The main reason I keep coming back is because this bar offers one thing few other do... DRINK SPECIALS!!! Good beer at good prices (buy one get one free before 7pm every day) what more do you need? The bathrooms downstairs have been remodeled, yes they still get nasty and could use a bit more cleaning, but alas this is a BAR. I love this place most because you get a great mix of people there. It gets pretty packed on weekend nights so I recommend going early or during the week.

Thanks for reviewing Acme. I have never been there but I plan on going. On my first visit to CB's I had Inferno Pod 3-4 years ago. I have been a huge fan but it is hard to find in Rochester. I also am a big fan of the other brands that you mentioned. I used to be on top of these places but now appreciate when someone lets me know of a great beer bar. Thanks for the great review. I am going to try to get to Acme soon.

Acme Bar & Pizza is a great little place to find good beer on the Monroe Avenue strip in Rochester. Over 75 different beers available. Huge bottle selection with many that are hard to find around here. 14 tap lines that seem to frequently rotate. On recent visits I have found on draft: Custom BrewCrafters Inferno Pod Ale, Victory HopDevil, Rockies/Boulder Hazed and Infused as well as selections from Ithaca, Harpoon, Magic Hat and Sierra Nevada. Usually only 3 or 4 are dedicated to the Molson/Yuengling type swill. What makes this place even better is the all day Happy Hour in which all beer (minus pitchers) is 2 for 1 seven days a week until 7:00pm. I've never eaten here but have looked at the menu and have seen the food that others have ordered. Looked good and was reasonably priced. The Sunday afternoon bartender that I have dealt with on my last 2 visits was both friendly and attentive. On street parking can be tough to find during peek hours. Only major negative would have to be that nasty ass restroom that was located in the basement. Be careful what you touch in there! Overall a very worthy beer savvy bar that deserves to be supported. With the demise of the city MacGregors I probably will be spending a lot more time here. ADD bonus points for getting the NFL and MLB sports TV packages.
