One of the best micro-breweries in the country. Very cool atmosphere and awesome beer.

Yes, Neil is serving beer again. I stopped in last Saturday (09/08/07) and had a couple mugs of the Harvest Ale. Very good. I was pressed for time so I did not get a chance to try anything else. Just means that I have to go back again.

Defiant is serving beer on the premises again! Don't go expecting fancy decor; do go for the beer.

Visited late evening with Alex H and Cuzme on 1/18. Neill couldn't have been more generous with his time, beer and a superb cured ham. Very interesting brewery set-up - all the beers are tank-conditioned at serving temperature (optimized for each beer - this is pretty rare since most tanks aren't rated for the kinds of gas pressures involved) so for real ale geeks this place is heaven. Left with a corny of Trippel which is pouring really nicely out of my kegerator. Neill, thanks a million - for the beer, the advice and the philosophy behind the brewery. Looking forward to seeing the beer here in NYC!

I live in Pearl River and finally decided to go to Defiant on 11/16/06. Unfortunately, Neil is no longer allowed to serve his brew on premises. Neil is only allowed to sell beer for take out in either liter bottles are growlers.
Picked up four liters with my favorites the Christmas and the Porter.
I strongly suggestion stopping in and picking some up.

Stopped in here on Saturday, 10/21/06, after reading about the place in the Bergen Record. My wife had a couple pints of the ESB and I tried both of the Ales, the Porter, and the ESB too. All were good. There is no food available to buy but Neil, (brewer and bartender) passed out bread and cheese. This worked nice with the different beers. I will certainly be making many more trips to this pub again.

Neill Acer opened Defiant Brewery on 9/22/06. Food is limited, it is not a traditional brewpub in that respect. Growlers are available.
Excellent Beer, served directly from the tanks. At the opening Neill had a Dubbel, Tripel, Plisener, ESB, Porter and an early Christmas. A unique setup, probably the only one of its kind. The brewery is also a tasting room.
