In the otherwise posh / soulless mini mall called the Galleria in Mount Lebanon all you could find until now were trendy boutiques, fish restaurants and Starbucks. With the introduction of Jernigan's - the otherwise bypassed mall now becomes a serious destination for hordes of otherwise disinterested beer geeks, scotch drinkers and cigar aficionados.
Nestled neatly in it own subdivision of an existing smoke shop (back past Houlihan's and right before you leave to the garage). Jernigan's is a tidy new upscale micro-eatery and bar featuring over 50 wines, 25 or so scotch's and around 20 very drinkable fine beers. No macro beers served here - emphasis on good imports along with a Dogfish 60 minute IPA and a Stone Brewing Arrogant Bastard and Sam Adams to round out the micros.
Frank, our bartender and waiter held our interest in drink, food and conversation. Frank is one of those rare, mature, knowledgeable and classy individuals that the service industry needs more of. Prompt professional service paired with accurate recommendations and a real interest in life.
We paired their dip sampler of sorts - olives finely reduced along with a bean dip and peppers with their mini artichoke pizza. Delightful tastes, good presentation and certainly one of the better meals we have had lately. We also tried their very homemade raspberry cheesecake - very good, yet light.
Good food, fine liquor, good beer. Quite a nice little new nook worth trying again.
Come smoking ban time, Jernigan's will be one of the few local places to enjoy a smoke along with you alcohol or food.
