My wife and I have found a new spot, the Judges Bench is a great place to try many different kinds of beers. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer they serve, the atmosphere is laid back and welcoming. They have the greatest beer selection in Ellicott City and the food is top notch! We had a great time and we'll be back!

Here's a review from someone who was there the night that you had this experience. I pulled up to the parking lot and noticed someone PUKING outside. I immediately walked into the establishment while said person was still puking RIGHT outside of the building...You guys were NOT in an alley...You were vomiting right next to the trash can in FRONT of the building. You say you got sick after eating the food, if that is the case, then why would you have asked for that food to be boxed up to be taken home? Which you DID, because I saw it. Secondly, No bar in their right mind is going to serve a patron that numerous other customers saw VOMITING in front of the building! I don't understand how you think you wouldn't have made it to the bathroom, it's literally 15 feet away from where you were sitting, (And believe me, I KNOW where you were sitting) Thirdly, this establishment has WONDERFUL and KNOWLEDGEABLE bartenders. It also has GREAT bar food. My advice for you is to learn how to hold your liquor, NOT to puke in FRONT of public places, and if you get cut off because of your behaviors, don't throw a hissy fit and post a bad review on a wonderful bar.

On Tuesday last,9/22/09, My date and I came to the Bench at 7;45. I was telling my friend what a great time I have had there in the past on open mike night an what a great atmosphere you have only to made out to be a liar. Since we were early for the music, I myself being a musician, we decided to have dinner. We ordered a cheese steak and a Rubin, My friend had a coke and I a Scotch and soda. This was our first stop out after a hard day at work. Everything was fine, we ate and went out for a smoke. Unfortunately my friend became suddenly ill and stepped into the alley to vomit, as she didnt think she could make it to the bathroom. We came back in and I asked the barmaid for a bitters and soda to settle her stomach. There were no bitters so my friend finished her soda and felt better. The music was playing and it was great. Then I ordered a Jim Beam rocks and my friend a Budweiser only to be told she wouldn't be served because someone saw her get sick. I will again state this was our first drink after a hard days work. We are both 46 & 49 years old, not kids. Now my point, I was extremely embarrassed and insulted in the way the bar maid handled her misunderstanding of the situation and it was only after eating your food did she get ill. I have enjoyed myself every other time I have been there with every guest I have brought. So thanks for let down and I feel after a $40.00 tab a response to this is in order. P.S. I live in historic E City and frequent all establishments as it is nice to walk from home to go out.

Judge's Bench is a great bar! They have several beer's on tap and over 100 bottled beers. The owner, Mike, is a expert on beer and enjoys talking about it. Tell him what you like and he will accommodate your tastes. A very enjoyable experience!

Went in for the first time last Friday. The beer selection is very good and the food which we had (burgers) was fine. A nice, friendly, beer lovers place. We will definitely be back - and soon.

NEW OWNERS The place has been remodled and they now have 12 taps of great microbrews!!!! Plus @80 bottles. Non-smoking!!! Give this place a try!!!!

The "Bench" is under new management and it has made all the difference! With the non-smoking laws in effect, 12 new (all micor)taps, 60 micro bottles, and a renovated upstairs loungs this place has become the place for beer in Ellicott City. "Beer School" coming soon!
