I have to agree with the last post about the Black Watch Scotch Ale. It's fantastic! I also tried the Razzle Dazz-Ale & was really surprised. It has a very subtle fruit finish, not at all over sweet like some fruit beers. They also have some great pub fare that we enjoyed on the deck overlooking the river and water fall. What a cool place!

I was at the Brew Pub when the now seasoned brewer was just starting out. I must say that the progress of his brews have increased tremendously! I recently had their beer up in Union Station at a beer festival, they have continued to make improvments and The Black Watch is a very nice Scottish brew!
I would highly reccommend the drive the check out the brew, my opinion you will not be disappointed!

I heard good things about this place and I'm really glad I decided to check it out. They offer a full menue with a lot of variety as well as a wide selection of house beers. After sampling all 8, I decided on a growler of River Rat, a smooth, balanced American Amber. I also really liked the Oatmeal Irish Stout, and the Winter Lager. Keep up the good work!

I was highly skeptical of a brewery located in the middle of nowhere Ohio, but boy am I glad I made the trek as this brewpub is one of my favorites of all-time. The location is amazing. Set in a gigantic mill that has stood for 200-some-odd years on the river next to a waterfall, the interior wood is obviously ancient and the views are amazing.
The menu is extensive and imaginative. Local ingredients are combined in interesting ways in a large variety of dinner entrees. However, I can only speak for the more traditional pub fare, since that’s what I was in the mood for. The burgers are good – not spectacular – and the fries are gigantic wedges and battered and fried. The ribs are perfectly tender. The fall apart when pressure is applied but otherwise hold together. There was a bit too much sauce on them for my tastes, but that’s more of a personal opinion.
The brewpub featured eight different beers on my visit, which is a lot for such a young brewpub out in rural Ohio. Luckily, it wasn’t eight different examples of crap. Each beer was very well done. The lighter varieties of a light ale, amber and ESB were simple, straightforward, but very tasty. Wonderful session beers.
The heavier barley wine and Christmas Ale were too sweet when combined with the high alcohol for my palette, though if in the mood I would enjoy them.
The stout and pumpkin ale were my favorites. The stout was unique and complex, apparently a happy accident. According to the brewer, he originally used too much of the seven malts for his system and they did not completely ferment. People told him to keep it that way, and he did. Good choice.
The pumpkin cream ale was likely the best pumpkin ale I’ve ever had. Brewed with real pumpkin and not just the spices, it gives a lingering taste of pumpkin pie that keeps you coming back for more. The brewer said it was a pain to use real pumpkin in the brewing process, but hopefully he endures it again next year. It’s well worth it.

This place is truely a diamond in the rough. The brewery is housed in a 200 yr. old grist mill making for a beautiful atmosphere. They have 8 house beers on tap, including a surprisingly flavorful light beer. I'll personally have to go with the River Rat Amber or the Edelweizen. The jerk chicken sandwich was fantastic and the service couldn't have been better!

I heard about this place from a friend & I'm glad I checked it out! The food was fantastic and the beers that I tried (the E.S.B. & the barley wine) were really good. I'm looking forward to the pumpkin ale that will be on tap in a few weeks!

I stopped in last week & had the 7 Deadly Stout which was excellent! Their flagships River Rat & Edelweizen (a honey hefe) were also very good. I was told that there will soon be a barley wine on tap which I will definately have to make the trip to try. They also have a new menue with some excellent selections. Great atmosphere and great service. Keep up the good work.

I should have known when the server told us that we should try the sampler first because if we don't like a beer we can't send it back that this was not a good place. I had the worst ever porter or beer here. When I told the server she tried to tell me that microbrews taste different than regular beers. What?? Do not ever go here. THE WORST BEER EVER!
