It is interesting to me that people complain about the A-B products on tap and say this is inconsistant for an Irish Pub. Does anyone out there know what the most common beer they drink in Ireland is?? Budweiser....

Stopped in for lunch on our last day in DC mostly because it is listed in "All About Beer" as one of the places to have a beer in the world before you die. Well, I had a beer. I guess I can die now. This place looked intersting on the inside but it was such a nice day we ate outside. The food was okay, nothing special. I had a Guinness which is always good. I can't comment on the lack of other beer selections only to say when I was walking through the place I didn't notice too many other taps.

How anyone could confuse this for a beer bar is beyond me. Take away the A-BCOORSMILLER products and you’re left with less than 8 beers. The food was good and the service poor. We only saw our waitress three times through the entire meal, once to take our order, once to get another drink (we had to flag her down for this, she walked by our table 3 times), and once to deliver the check. Oh yeah and I need to mention that there were only a few customers in the place so being busy wasn’t the reason for poor service. I will never visit this place again.

The best Irish Pub I've been to!
A friendly bartender, traditional Irish food, live music, and a rather large selection of beer....what more could you ask for?

This is an update of my last reveiw from July 200..you, know? I forgot. Anyway, the Dubliner is still my favorite DC Irish pub and they now serve Smithwick's (pronounced Smith-icks). And the trad music is still the best! Go there in the fall after the tourists leave...

As several reveiwers have already noted: the Dubliner is not a beer bar, but a very atmospheric and popular Irish pub that pours a great pint o Guinness. Decent food and live irish music nightly. Next door to the Irish Times and across the street from Capital City (Capitol Hill.) Not a bad crawl...

We went to the Dubliner based on a recommendation for a good steak. The food was great! The waite staff was very responsive even though the place was packed. We had a great time and the guiness was fresh.

The food is tasty, the Guinness chilled to the proper temp and the live Irish music is the best! I think this is the most likely place to find the Irish hangin' for a taste-o-home.

Ties with Murphy's in Alexandria as my favorite Irish bar in the city. No- it isnt a beer bar- but its definately one of the best times in the city. Go, have a few pints, sing the songs, and hang out with your friends. Great time! And the staff is very friendly.

This does not fit the criteria for a beer bar, they are just an irish pub. They are not microbrew friendly, killarney ale is just a disguised a-b product, and the only imports are guiness and harp, which one would expect at an irish pub. it is also not a good spot to hang out, nor enjoy a beer.

This does not qualify as a beer bar. The primary taps are a-b products. sure, they say that they are an irish pub, so they do have guiness on tap. the attitude of the manager/bar staff sucks. they are just there to grab your money, not ensure that you have a memorable dining and drinking experience. to top it off, one can not order food unless they have a credit card!? that's right, the manager said that most people are dishonest and will run off without paying!? so, we were allowed to pay cash for our beer, but were not allowed to order any food, because we did not want to give them a credit card. go to capitol city brewing right across the street. at least they treat their customers with a minimal bit of respect and also have a better selection of beers.

The one true Irish Pub in Washington - you have to go out to Arlington's Four Courts to get close..forget Kelley's next door. This Irish pub is actually run by Irishmen.

Only had one beer, the Auld Dublin Irish Ale. About six beers on tap, offering a fairly wide selection of tastes. Fine tap room with impressive wooden bar. Sidewalk cafe with superlative view of the street and local architecture.

This is one of my favorite places to drink a pint or two or three. An excellent place to hang out w/ friends in the spring and summer due to the sidewalk patio!

A great place to drink Guiness and converse with strangers. The shepherd's pie is the best I have ever tasted! The service is great and the nightly Irish entertainment really gets you in the mood.......TO DRINK.
