My take is that as echoed by many of the other postings here: go for the beer selection, not the food or for elegant atmosphere. It did also seem that they were out of about 50% of what my party was wanting to try, but as too pointed out previously, that could be more blame of the distributors and not the establishment. It IS a place to check out and say that you've been to.

Amazing list of beers. It took me a while to decide. As a misplaced Texan, I was looking for more Texas brews, but was sad to see that they were out of stock on Shiner Bock and only carried on Celis Brew. Definately something to be worked on. Enjoyed my evening nonetheless and the staff is very accomodating and fast.

Come for the beer, don't expect much else. I was thoroughly impressed with the beer list and freshness of the beers I drank, although there must be some stale beer when you carry 500+. Ask about freshness. No beer on tap. Otherwise, the food was passable but the place is dirty and smelled like tobacco smoke. If you like beer, this place is a must see.

I've had the pleasure of tasting beer across this country. Brickskeller brings it all together. DC should cherish this establishment. Never have I seen a place that devotes itself to tasting world renowned beers. Cheers!

Beer heaven. At least 500 different beers. They've started carrying some of the local stuff (DeGroens, etc), which only adds to the selection. The food, while not the best in the city, isn't the worst either. My fish & chips were more adequate. But come on, you're not coming here for a meal, unless a nutritious barley shake is your idea of a meal. Not a chain, and you're close enough to Dupont Circle to make getting there fun. They have monthly tastings of different beers. In short, if you're in the mood for beer, but not sure what kind, not a bad place to go.

The food was awful (way too greasy, even for bar food), except for the chicken wings. But no one goes there to eat and the beer selection is tremendous. I wish though, that there was more of a selection on draft.

As a former resident, I find it a neccessity to visit the "Brick" whenever I get to D.C. The atmosphere is good, but the beer triumphs over any other inconsistencies with this establishment.

Great bar atmosphere, with the glass-door refrigerator directly in front of the bar. Good for the serious beer drinker. Bartenders are generally good, except for one that basically ignors the customer during times when they should not be ignored (like when your glass is empty). Overall, a great escape from some of the more popular and less mature scenes.

A warning to loyal Bricks-trippers: the last visit resulted in the surprise that many, many beers formerly on the menu are now missing. They seem to be the victim of cutbacks by the distributors that service them (dropping slow-selling breweries), not by their own choosing. Surprisingly, I've found better beers to drink in Montreal, Philadelphia, and Hanover. Nonetheless, it's hard to argue with 850+ beers on the list (of which you can expect 100-200 to be temporarily out of stock). Just go with the 1987 Thomas Hardy's for $7.50.

It's hard to describe the Bricks to someone who hasn't been there. The idea of exaggerating the number of beers is a fallacy of logic. They have a constantly changing selection of 500+ beers. As a beer snob I have found no where to compare it to. Some have complained about the food. I've eaten their normal burger fare for years and not been disapointed. I can't comment about steaks, fish, or sausages. As for service, I have always just gone in and asked for suggestions in a certain style and very rarly been disappointed. I can rave about the wonders of this establishment all day, but should be elsewhere.

This place is cool! A great beer selection from all over the world! (I personally would like more domestic micros on the menu.) The food was filling and the atmosphere was down to earth and laid back.

Where else can it take you 15 minutes to figure out what you want to drink? It would be nice if the food were better, but the beer selection is reason enough to visit (and stay a while).

What's to say? It's the freakin' BRICK. Got a hankerin' for something from Bali, or perhaps a Thomas Hardy's 1993?

I was expecting so much from the reviews, but this place was a dive. The help no longer has to take a beer test to get a job, and our newer waitress was not very helpful. The food wasn't very good, and the place was in a state of disrepair. After stating all this negativity, would I go back? With the greatest beer selection I have seen to date, you bet I will.

The Brickskeller has an amazing selection of beer, although it has virtually no draft beer. The ambience and location are good. Every beer is overpriced, but that is to be expected when you have the opportunity to select from so many offerings. A fantastic establishment.
