A tiny little place just down the block from McSorley's. A pretty nice variety of beer for the space...seems like 15 or so. Bartender was passive. Since there were only 5 of us in the bar I would have expected a bit better service but it wasn't awful. No food, and serve only beer and wine. All the sports items over the walls are very fun to look at. I was there about an hour and each time I looked around I saw something differnt.

A combination beer bar and sports bar where I can sit back and enjoy a pint of Middle Ages Wailing Wench or Sixpoint Black Soul Porter, eat buffalo wings provided for free by the management and watch my beloved University of Connecticut Huskies on the multiple widescreen tvs? Somebody pinch me....I think I'm dreaming. I never got to Standings during its previous incarnation as Brewksy's, but judging by some of the more recent reviews that doesn't seem like such a bad thing. It hasn't been very crowded during my visits, but they seem to be offering quite a bit of incentives (the aforementioned free buffalo wings at game time) to change that. They post schedules of thier events at the bar, so check them out. Go Huskies!

No longer Brewsky's, but a bar called Standings. Twelve beers are still on tap and a bottled beer list of about 25 different bottles. Several HDTV line the walls to watch the game (whatever game you want)

Was there last Saturday. Three out of the twelve draft lines were dry. The bottle list--which I'm told used to have over two hundred beers listed--has about sixty bad beers listed. The bartender said that there haven't been any bottle shipments in close to a year. I'm guessing the owner's just trying to sell off the dregs.
I won't be back.

Well, the owner is the only one who can order beer, the owner is the only one who can change a tap, the owner is the only one who can change the prices of the taps; in short the owner is the only one with the ability to make the bar good or bad.
Right now, a solid third of the bottle selections are out of stock. Most of the better Belgians, the popular Belgians, fruit beers and fruit lambics, German wheat beers, all out.
Next time you're there, check the date of the bottle list. That's slightly later than the last time a bottle order was received. And that's what the bartenders are up against; only a very few have been there more than a few months, and the new people aren't all beer geeks like most of the "old guard".

I understand that a bar can have off days and that different bartenders will have different levels of experience. But to not have a general grap (a very general grasp) of the beers is sad. Describing a beer as light or dark is just plain pathetic. And what's the deal with the bottle list? The bartender told that they use to have all the beers on the list, but they ran out. There was a lot of beers that weren't available when I was there.

Donovan, Your experience is spot-on, but know that different days bring different bartenders with different levels of knowledge. There's been a lot of turnover at Brewsky's lately (since early April), and it seems like nobody has ordered any bottled beer since then. So they ran out of the more popular choices; I could name twenty such Belgian beers off the top of my head. One can only hope they turn that situation around soon, because, well, people want good beer and the bartenders are getting sick of not being able to deliver.

Their bottle list goes on for pages, but they seem to be out of stock of all the good stuff (no lambics). The bartenders are not knowledgable about beers. When you ask the bartender about the beers, he can only describe them as light or dark.

The bottle list has been updated and presently includes about 170 different beers. This list will continue to grow and be updated.

cool laid back place- bartender took time to describe different beers, and played some great music. on same block as burp and macsorleys, but has more of a regular joint feel. i will go back.

You didn't look hard enough. Last time I checked, there was a 7-ounce Budweiser bottle available for $4. My guess is, few of those are sold there.

I secretly went to Brewsky's the other night with my most trusted associates, and we all loved the place...It is truly a great American place to drink beer. A tue American Classic. Brewsky's makes a positive statement about american beer drinker's tastes and capacity for variety in beers. But sadly my beer was nowhere to be found. Maybe, someday it will find a small, humble spot in Brewsky's amasing bottle list...ab

I wouldn't say a scene is as important as the brew, but Brewsky's success is clearly attributed to the latter.

Atmosphere is a bit louder, less refined than Burp Castle, but the prices more than make up for it. Try them both side by side, and you'll probably have the extra beer at Brewsky's!

BREWSKY'S IS NO LONGER IRISH!!!! Well, the taps are more solidly British and American now. Four Anchor taps (Liberty, Porter, Steam, Old Foghorn), Old Speckled Hen, a cider, local micro Ramstein, and several other English and Irish taps offer a nice range of styles to choose from. Plus the prices are way down now. Well worth stopping by any night if you enjoy goodbeer.

BREWSKY'S HAS GONE IRISH!!! (The guy who used to be behind the bar was Ukranian). Their 12 or so taps are now all Irish (boring). They still seem to have a huge selection of bottled beers, but it is difficult to tell from the way the beer menu is set up.
