A great place to kick off a charming evening in Manhattan. The bartenders are very friendly and the atmosphere is laid back.

Great beer. Great selection (66 taps). This place would be perfect if they got rid of the cigars.

Incredible! The beer list reads like a newspaper. I was very pleased with the number of Belgians on tap, some of which I have not seen elsewhere. If you're a serious pub'r and can stand the cigar smoke, then this is the place for you when visiting NYC.

Here is a nice "start" to your beer nirvana gig at G'mans: Start with small Old Foghorn then go with the Belgian N'Ice Chouffe. I echo all the raves from the other reviewers but suggest that really for very little more $/ounce it is well worth staying with the 13 oz. size so that you can experiment more. Thank God the cigar fad is "dying" down! Enjoy!

The guy (?) from NYC who complained that the lightest beer to be found was Celis White should have his/her head examined. Anything lighter is worthless (may as well drink water), and Celis White is to die for. Fabulous selection of Belgian ales and Barleywines (year-old Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine was a delight....) looking forward to my next visit...definitely a hard place to leave, especially walking straight.

I've been there three times and can't wait to go back there. Beer selection and quality was excellent. Whatever your favorite beer, they're guaranteed to have it. Word of advise...bring your own cigars. I paid $12 for a cigar that I got for $3 at a cigar store. However, it was all worth it for an excellent evening

Great place. It was second to last on our overall bar crawl and well worth the travel. $5 pints hurt me after a while but it was all worth the wastedness. If you enjoy great beer, this is the place to go! Boddington/guinness black and tans were supreme! The Belgian selection was astonishing! All around nice atmosphere(a little ritzy)and a brilliant establishment. The beer fiends from the ville give it two big poppa pumps because it gots the hook up!!

Can't complain one iota about this place -- five bucks for an Imperial pint of Old Foghorn, or Salvator? Outstanding! The hand pumps generally serve up a fine selection, rotated every so often; my Brooklyn Brown was wonderful. The place looked like a frathouse bar when we walked in -- it's crowded most weeknights with after work people and it's hard to get the bartenders' attention. But it thins out eventually, and there are tables as the crowds disperse. Probably best to experience on a Saturday evening if you don't like heavy throngs. Worth multiple visits as the tap selection changes.

Something to keep everyone happy! If smoke and crowds are not your cup of tea, then go in the afternoon when you can have the place to yourself. New beer selections seem to appear weekly, including some outstanding "cask conditioned" choices. The Gingerman should be a "must see" for anyone on a Pubcrawl. My only complaint is that I find it hard to leave this establishment.

Sixty-six taps, ranging from Bud Light to drop-dead barley wines, plus a hand-pump; very knowledgable staff (always attentive, in my experience); small but quality menu (ask about specials); nice Scotch and cigar selection. All pints (20 oz.) $5, so the Bud drinkers subsidize the Belgian drinkers! Mid-day and weekends are best; after work meat-market crowd is noisy, smokey and you have to line-up to get in.

Good beer, great selection with the tap count at 66 I believe. Way too crowded and trendy to deserve more than a "you-gotta-go-once-just-to-see-it" vote.

Great selection. All female bartenders with a little touchy feely action going on. I watched them pour a few mixed drinks - a bit shy on the alcohol - stick to the beer. We had to send back a beer as it tasted like fish - the girl got annoyed. For five bucks a beer, one would expect clean lines. Overall a good time but there are many better choices where you'll spend a lot less money.

Good spot for Midtown, but the lightest beer you're drinking there (and let's face it, we all need one sometime) is Celis White.

An absolutly incredible selection of beers although a little expensive. The food menu has some interesting choices but were very good. I had gone there for lunch one day and the service was AWFUL (in the afternoon). I had to get a manager who fixed the problem, but it took a long time. I would go again.

A must stop for a beer/scotch lover. Not cheap but, what do you expect, it's NY! The servers do a good job navigating the crowd. And if you get there much after 6pm, you will encounter a crowd. Try early in the week. There is a real British-style firkin beer available. If you go in the early afternoon you can have the run of the place. I can't believe this place is related to a tandem of similar bars in Texas! Go figure. Cheers
