We stopped in on a cold wet spring day in syracuse on our way to the adirondaks, for a quick bite and a beer. We both chose the middle ages winter wheat, and were very happy with our selection. For our lunch/dinner we both ordered the lobster sandwich with double meat. It was served to us on a croissant roll. This sandwich was heavelny, unique, and one of the tastiest things i have ever eaten! The service was a little weird in the fact that we had to order up at the window, then sit down and wait, however, it was served very fast! that made us happy :-)
fabulous experience, and we cant wait to go back and try some of the other creations listed on the menu.

Have been a patron of the Blue Tusk since it first opened. Unfortunately, I just get to go during my annual visit to the Syracuse Jazz Festival. In the meantime I try to find as great a place somewhere else in the country. Looking forward to my next visit.

A visit to Syracuse just wouldn't be complete without going to the Armory District and stopping here for a great beer. With so many choices, it's often hard to decide, but the servers don't seem to mind if you ask for a few tastes (especially if it's not packed). This trip? Stone Smoked Porter, with an excellent smoke/malt/hop balance--might be my favorite smoked beer from the few I've tried. Also, it's always great to have a hand pull, and the Tusk will accomodate you in that area too. If you're a fan of Middle Ages' beers, be sure to stop by here and try whatever they've got on cask, you won't be sorry! A Syracuse institiution.

The Tusk has become one of my favorite beer bars. The service is great and you can't beat the selection. I was disappointed on my last visit with the price of the Victory Storm King. $8 for a 10-ounce glass? Steep. The beauty of that is there are other choices to keep me happy.

My fiancee grew up in Syracuse and turned me on to this place on one of our trips to visit her family. I've been going to the blue tusk for a few years now. I love it! The beer selection is fantastic and the music rocks! I'm a huge Phish fan and they play all kinds of jamband music. 50+ taps. Check this place out.

A syracuse treasure. An almost perfect beer selection, great patio space and fabulous tunes selection. Whether in the cold or the short summer season The Tusk is the place to relax and chat with friends. The only downside is that they nixed some great nachos from the menu...bring them back!!!

The Blue Tusk a Syracuse treasure. The beer selection is second to none. Micros from all over the US. The food is good and the bartenders are great (although women behind the bar wold be nice. The love summers there, grab a beer and sit outside to smoke a cigar.

The Blue Tusk just recently addressed one of its major issues -- the complete lack of mixed drinks. I applaud the move as it will bring them a wider customer base. At the same time, it's caused their service to drop a bit as the bartenders scramble to memorize what they have, and how to use it. Give it another six months, and the service should be good-or-better again. In the meantime, the food's still terrific, and the selection of beer is second-to-none, although you won't find many pints under four bucks. It's not my personal favorite (I prefer the darker lighting and more laid-back vibe at Awful Al's), but don't let that stop you from swinging by and checking out one of Syracuse's better bars.

70+ taps, with a wide variety of styles to select from. A cask beer is always on--this trip Middle Ages Wailing Wench; wow! Possibly the best cask beer I've ever had. Adjacent wine bar features 150+ selections, most by the bottle, many by the glass. Daily $1 off pints from 11-7. If you're in town, you have to stop here!

a great selection of beer both nationally and locally, 70-80 taps. They usually have a Middle Ages Cask on hand.

On my last visit, in March, I was walking across the street to go to (the then closed) Empire. But when you see a stretch limo pull up at 1PM, and everyone gets out of it screaming, you cross the street. It seems as though the deal was magnums of Duvel had arrived and Syracuse was celebrating! I always find some beers that are new to me, along with several old favorites. The place is always busy, and I've never had a complaint about the service. Price? Fair, for the quality and amount. Did I have any Duvel? Well, that's another story...

Well, maybe I'll give it another chance. I went a couple times back in college, and the last time paid over 6 bucks for a pint and have not been back since. But this was about 5 years ago, so I imagine it may not be the same pricing structure...

Blue Tusk serves 20 oz “pints”. Their happy hour is 11 AM to 8 PM. A dollar off the listed price. More like a happy half-day. We stopped in last night at 5:30. Had three beers. The Middle Ages IPA was $3. The Southern Tier IPA was $3. The Guinness was $4. This place is not expensive.

The prices at the Blue Tusk were, in my opinion, very high. Very good quality, but for myself, not quite worth the prices. But if price is no object, go for it.

Dave - Let us know where we can find a pitcher of "excellent" beer for $3.50. I can't wait to go get one. Probably be Labatt's! Ug.

This is such pretentious crap! I can't believe people go to this place. It's decorated to appeal to the lowest common denominator, which is Syracuse consists of people who fool themselves into thinking they are cool and refined. Blue Tusk matches their delusions perfectly. Don't fool yourself. Most people here are drinking overpriced Labatts and sporting that "I'm preppy and dressed up" look. There are some really cool bars in Syracuse that will sell you a pitcher of great beer for the price of a Blue Tusk pint. If you really love beer, you'll go there, and avoid the Blue Tusk.

Great selection of beer, and a great atmosphere. I suspect they don't keep their tap lines as clean as they should. My Victory Prima Pils did not taste anyhting like it should. I've encountered this problem before at the Tusk. I went to Clarks and the Prima was excellent.

Excellent selection of beers on tap (65+). Very good sandwiches. It tends to get very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights which can make getting to the bar a problem.

haven't been there since i moved in '00, but the atmosphere was great, the seating outside kept you away from the smoke inside. their sandwiches are great, but for a real experience walk to clarks for a roastbeef sandwich with their horseradish. then sit at the blue tusk.

Havent' been to Blue Tusk since 1999, but I miss it. It had an awesome beer selection, and a really cool atmosphere. My favorite in town; can't wait to come back to Syracuse just to visit the Blue Tusk and have a few good beers and one of those huge and deliscious sandwiches.

Is it me? Or has this place slipped a bit? First, the Good. 65+ taps, rotated regularly, the largest selection of Middle Ages products anywhere. Walking into this place for the first time, it reminds you of beer heaven. What's not to like? For one thing, beer quality has slipped. It used to be impossible to get a bad beer here. However, of my last 10 beers, maybe 2-3 were flat, or had a slightly "off" flavor. Are they still paying attention? I'm not sure. There also seems to be a shift in the atmosphere behind the bar. The bartenders seem to be in a collective bad mood. Less discussion of, or interest in the beers. This used to be a strong plus for the Blue Tusk. No more. Or is it just me? I'd be interested in the comments of other Blue Tusk "regulars".

If it is beer you want then it is beer you will get but so much more then that. It is everything from excentric bouncers to wild and fun patrons. What more could you ask for.
