Stopped by on 6/21/04. I knew they were no longer brewing beer but the restaurant is closed and the building is for sale or lease. I saw Cherryland brews at beer stores in the area and it is brewed in Green Bay.

As mentioned below, this place is no longer a functioning brewpub. At best, it's a sales outlet for Cherryland Brewing products, which are also available in Green Bay, Milwaukee, etc. I did not patronize the restaurant but escaped with their sixpacks only because I'm a rail enthusiast (the building is a former RR station, despite its appearance). Sadly, it's not worth the detour up the peninsula just to see the place or get a sixpack, but if you're up there, hey...

Here's the deal. This place isn't so much a brewpub as a restaurant that sits next to where a microbrewery used to be. According to the server, Cherryland Brewing moved to Green Bay and merged with Hinterland Brewing, although each brewery has retained its name. The restaurant, called Del Santo's serves beer from these two breweries and, inexplicably from Abita Brewing. Note also that you can't buy any brewery souveniers here, although you can buy beer for take out.
As far as the beer goes, there were 3 Cherryland, 2 Hinterland, and 3 Abita beers. I had the Cherryland porter. It had a complex fruity flavor.

OK, the beer is better than Miller/AB/Coors, etc., but not by much. Service was attentive, but not knowledgable, a great sin in such a small place (esp. one that shares its space with another establishment). Shipwrecked Brewing (Egg Harbor) is definitely worth the trip if you are in Sturgeon Bay and looking for good beer.

My brother and I were meeting some people there and had to sit there for an hour or two. Had a hard time to find a beer that I wanted more than 1 of. New owner and brewer so I'm hoping they just need a little time, but for now...yuck!

Very good beer and a very good brewmaster that gives a very good tour. My wife loves the cherry rail which is a must try. I prefer a heavier beer like their golden rail. The brewery is a bit hard to find but worth it.

The place closes at 10:00. It looks like a good resturant, but not much of a bar. Tom

Sturgeon Bay Brewing has a few noteworthy products, like their Apple Bach, the first beer product that I have tried that is made from apples. The Cherry Rail is also a pleasant surprise, a unique tart flavor with a distinct aftertaste. The remaining products include a summer wheat, a lager (called Golden Rail) and a product called Helles, which reminded me of the taste of homebrew. These latter beers are pretty ordinary. The food, however, is good and the atmosphere is interesting. The establishment was made out of an old railroad stop.

This is really the Sturgeon Bay Brewing Co. since it changed hands. The beer is very good. The pizza is excellent (the sauce does it) and the mediterranean salad was out of this world. Great service and great people.

Good beer (especially if you favor lagers or lambic style ales (they do a very nice Apple Ale...) in a very nice setting, with a predominantly Italian menu, in the middle of Door County...not a bad combination...
