Average beer, ok selection. Tampa Bay Brewing blows this place away. I just wish Tampa Bay Brewing could be sold at stores to take home.

Although this isn't a brew pub - and they don't advertise to be, their beer is fantastic and has variety. From the Gaspar's Ale, Brown Ale and IPA to the Ybor Gold, Carribean Pilsner, Pale Ale, Lager and Raspberry & Calusa Wheat plus the new lager & ales they now brew. Accessibility is limited to daily tours or catch the Friday happy hour 6-8 pm when you can sample what's on hand. If you are unable to make it to the brewery itself, feel fortunate that products are distributed locally - so grab a 6 of Brown Ale for dinner tonight!

This place has such limited, minimal hours of actual operation that I was unable to even get inside!! Besides that, you can buy their beers in grocery stores!! I would recommend spending your valuable, beer-loving time at the Tampa Bay Brewing Company down the street. Forget about Ybor!!

Stopped by the brewhouse before heading back to B-more. Very nice and helpful staff. Great old building. The beer is very good but they do lack the variety I would expect from such a relatively large operation..I think they are just keeping up with demand. Something the other reviewers continue to forget(throughout Pubcrawler) is that breweries must cater to their geo/political/social/eco. etc. taste of their customers. For Tampa..hot sunny beachbums from Miami and NYC...do not want a hopfest or a stout while rollerbladeing around Ybor City. This place does their beers well. Put them in Baltimore/Portland etc. and they would soon perish except for the Gaspars Ale-I bet. They do brew awesome beers for a very tiny BP up in Miami called Abbey Brewing and they contract to brew Wolavers Organic beers--also great so, give them another chance and get educated about beers and people who drink them before you spout off in PC !

Swill. A contender for the worst micro-brewery in America. Ybor Gold has a natural skunked taste. Gaspar Ale is fair at best.

Ybor City Brewery has some fine lager. Its unsual flavor and taste compliment many fine dishes. The Garspar's Ale is an outstanding Porter-like style on the sweet side. Unfortunately, the Brewery did not have any more and I could not find it at any local store. They will make more in the future. Look for it!

Housed in a beautiful red brick building with cobblestone streets nearby in Tampa's old quarter of Ybor City, this brewery is worth a visit. The building is an old cigar factory. A photo inside shows the neighbourhood as it was in the previous century.
The selection of beers is thin even for a small brewery. The Gold, Wheat Ale, and Brown Ale are non-descript. At my tasting, only the seasonal Gaspar's was worthwhile: a dark with much substance and flavour.

Bingo Bob and the Bavry/Wilson reviews are not so far off... but when you're from the Pacific NW and thirsty, the Ybor dark beer was much better than Bud. Will return to south Florida gulf coast and continue my search for a good stout.

Awesome setup; the renovation of the cigar factory was fantastic, however the brew is lacking in originality. The ybor gold on draft is tolerable, the wheat is nondescript, the brown ale is a diacetyl-laden outrage. To their credit the Gaspars Ale is a fine example of a robust porter, and should be served year round. Their seasonal Belgian Wild Apple Ale was the best beer brewed and served on the West coast of Florida. With their brewing capabilities and expert assistant brewer Vince Pelosi at the helm, there is no excuse for Ybor Brewing Co not to reach the pinnacle of brewing exellence! It's all within their reach.

YCBC makes 4 styles of beer. Gold, a great lager. Calusa Wheat, a very good wheat beer (no yeast visible). Gaspar's Brown, not as good as the wheat or Gold, and another brew whose name and taste slip my mind. Try any of these when you're in Florida -- you'll come back for more! And someone tell me what Bingo Bob was talking about, ok?

Ybor is housed in a great old factory in the historic Spanish district of Ybor City. Signature brew is Ybor Gold, a golden helles type of lager. Goes great with the heat & humidity of Florida! Tours Tues - Sat 11AM - 3PM.

My one word review would be as follows: mediocrity. But, I will expand a bit. After touring the premises, and speaking with the brewer, I was a little disgusted, but not really surprised. Here is someone with access to excellent financial resources, with a fantastic location, who is incapable of realizing anything more than this. A sort of impotence, I suppose. What might assist here... a ginseng & yohimbe brew? Or perhaps a corporate takeover, installing an actual creative mind in the brewery. Don't waste your time here. Order a Grant's, a Rogue or even a Celis.
