As reported earlier, now called the Flat St Brewpub. Stopped in to try it out--beers pretty uninteresting, but nothing was foul or "off". Everything seemed a bit thin to me. The Brown struck me much like a amber (ala Yuengling). Oktoberfest seemed a bit cream soda-ish and the Porter was not as hearty as I have come to expect. However, moving the bar area to the street level looks nice and makes a lot of sense. Wings weren't bad either. Give 'em a few months and stop by again, I know I will.

Excellent selection of the Berkshire beers, plus 1 cask. There's a good dark wheat, although you might suspect it of being a dark ale, but good nonetheless. Collectively we probably tried about 8 beers. The regular 'Berkshire' pale is notably good considering we don't normally even drink Pale ales. This is worth an evening out, although if you only have 1 night in Brattleboro you have to try McNeils too.

The Latchis Brewery is open again, but now it's called Flat Street Brew Pub (guess why) and it features Berkshire Brewing ales. At present the beer comes from the Berkshire micro brewery in nearby western Mass., but soon they will brew a couple on site. That being said, the beer is excellent, including a cask ale from time to time, and the ambience nice enough to take a date to. Perhaps not as "authentic" as MacNeils, a block or so away, but isn't it nice to have TWO great beer joints in one town!! One more and we'd have to crawl.

The brews are found in the bistro located in the basement of a great old art deco building. However, the quality of the beer doesn't even come close to the building's charm. All (5) were thin and unimaginative. The place was deserted (it was a Monday night, though)and I kind of felt sorry for those working there. I had just eaten, so I didnt get a chance to sample whatever smelled so good coming from the kitchen. Maybe next time.

The Windham Brewery is indeed up and running again, and you can get their beers at the Lucca Bistro, in the basement of the Latchis Hotel. I'm not sure that its worth it coming here just for the beers, which were just ok -- the Pale and IPA would be the only ones I'd order again from the 6 samples I had; and the food seems pricey, though pretty good. But McNeills is just around the corner and up the street, so why not hit both?

The Windham Brewrey is alive and well. The food menu has taken a weird turn (Southern Comfort food) and will hopefully return to a New American menu.

I am prtty sure this place is closed and has been since late in 2001. Macneil's (two blocks away)is great, try it and you won't be sorry.

Really good food and a helpful bartender. The beer had a funny taste to it and all the beers had that same aftertaste. If you're in Brattleboro, go to McNeils.

Stopped for dinner because we heard good things about the food, and the food was oustanding. Surprisingly the IPA was first rate, better than the two beers I tried at McNeil's later on, and I love McNeil's. The waiter knew the beers, the wines and the food. Great place.

Stopped here enroute to the Vermont Brewers Festival in July. Actually, i wanted to hit McNeill's, but i guess they really live their motto as they were closed at noon. Good beer and food, friendly, and a nice decor...

Was only here once and would never go back. Would you believe the kitchen shuts down from 5-6PM, so if you're hungry they could care less I guess.

The only problem this place has is that it is in the same small town as McNeill's. Had an excellent brown ale on my last visit, which was only one of two beers available. This place does not have beer as its primary interest, but still makes a very good product. Would definitely stop in here again on my way to McNeill's

We have stayed here a couple of times and enjoy the whole shebang. Great flavorful foods, decent beer, a cool deco theater showing first run movies, and the most interesting bartender you'll ever find. Alan is a real treasure!

We agree with you Carl (but I think you mean next time you're in Brattleboro). This would be a nice place to have a formal dinner, but not a good place to just stop by for a brew (although the IPA was pretty good).

Very nice, but too "high class" for my taste. If you are in Burlington go there first, then go to McNeill's, which is two blocks away.
