OK - trying to get a handle on the set up of this operation. Did Chesapeake buy Rock Creek, or did Rock Creek buy Chesapeake? They also bought Tomcat and I think one other brewery in PA. Are they all under one roof in Raleigh, or is there still a brewery up in Richmond, VA?

Rock Creek has indeed purchased and moved into the former Tomcat/Pale Ale space. They bought the brands as well as the brewery, so continue to make and sell Tomcat beers as well as the wide variety of RC branded beers. I believe the Tomcat recipes have been tweaked a little. They are soon to open an English-style pub upstairs.

The last I heard, Tomcat had been absorbed by Rock Creek Brewing (out of Richmond.) Pale Ale Brewing of Raleigh has also been assimilated by them. Can anyone comment?

Was sent the Bengal IPA a couple of years ago as part of a beer in the mail club sort of thing. Whenever I get near Raleigh, I pick up some more. The best IPA, and one of the best beers I've ever had.

Not real impressed with their brews - nothing real special about the quality. I have tried several and they lack that microwbrew special taste. They are almost like mass produced megabrews. Still, if faced with a choice between Tomcat Ale and Bud, I'd go with Tomcat. It's not that the beer is really bad, it's just that it really doesn't stand out.

The Tomcat beers are the best produced in Raleigh. The Stout is absolutely incredible. The IPA is too easy to drink....
