I regret to report that Wonder's closed at the end of February, 2008. It is to reopen in March under new ownership & name but was not open for food yet when we checked it out March 7th.

Steve (owner) had lots of experience in the Madison bar scene prior to owning Wonder's. He sponsors a free bus to/from the Great Taste of the Midwest (in August) as well as selling tickets for it. He provides a meeting space for the Madison Homebrewers who sponsor the Great Taste. He always has some beers on tap that you won't find anywhere else in Madison. On Friday nights he usually has three (or sometimes more) fish entrees including the famous Wisconsin Beer Batter Fish & that's when we usually stop in. It's not a huge place, more like a "Cheers" type place where everybody knows your name. A reasonable walking distance from the Barrymore Theater - a live music venue in Madison. Try it sometime! Just off "East Wash."

You can tell the owner is involved in the local beer scene....while he doesn't have a lot of taps, he always has some interesting selections. On our last visit, he had a bourbon barrel brown from Tyranena that can otherwise only be obtained at Tyranena. Very nice atmosphere, true pubcrawlers should definitely pay a visit when in the Madison area.

This is a great neighborhood bar in a unique area of Madison. They don't have a great deal of taps, but they rotate them rather frequently and usually have something quite good. The owner, Steve, knows his beer and is involved in the local beer scene.

The owner is a big player in the local micro scene. He hosts the local HomeBrewers meetings each week and is involved with the Great Midwest Beer Taste each year. Overall....awesome.
