When we arrived after 5:20pm I asked for a table for 4 and I informed the hostess at the time I had 3 more friends joining us at 6PM as my husband would be leaving after he finished his dinner. The hostess gave us 4 menus and said no problem. My friends arrived at 6pm and my husband left. The host walked up to our table at 6:15 and said 'You have to move- there is a reservation for this table at 6PM.' I was surprised and the hostess said nothing of this to me. I asked the host why we had to move. He sadi you were told when you arrived there was a reservation for the table at 6pm. I said if I had known that we would have sat elsewhere- and no one said anything to me about any reservation. His reply was 'Then you did not hear her' I looked at him and said I was not told anything-I was given 4 menus and she said no problem. His glare to me for the remainder of the evening was not nice.

I have not had the sort of negative experience at the Box that some of the reviews here reflect, but I do know a *lot* of people who have had complaints there. To give some voice to the disaffected ... if you talk to the employees, the problem is not far below the surface ... The owner’s issues trickle down to the staff. I have heard much about the poor morale, rotten wages, video cameras that watch the employees, and the nasty disposition and the stingy-ness of ownership. With as much of a cash cow as the place is, there would certainly seem to be room for improvement ... ... but folks ... this is a place that has over six-hundred beers (600+) ... that ... and it’s location, are the it’s saving graces.
Though it’s been nearly a year since I’ve visited, the food I’ve had there has been ok ... and the service was passable. If prompt service is important, I’d recommend sitting at the bar which is actually quite pleasant.
The Box Bar is in a great location right off of the town square ... so as a place to stop in for a beer while walking around the rather charming business district of Plymouth, it is quite convenient and well stocked with a fine selection ... both on tap and in bottles.

Been coming to this pub for years(at least 18), food used to be good. Now that I am old enough to appreciate it, the beer list is great. However, I have never been treated so poorly as I was this last Saturday night. Our food was terrible and the manager on duty was extremely rude and unprofessional, even going so far as to interject her thoughts into our conversation. I will never go to this establishment again. I am also contacting Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce and the owneer. Wait and see what happens.

Since my last report the Box Bar has plumeted in my book. The service is down right horrible. I have waiting 20 minutes for a coke. The food is horrible. Their salmon is the worst Salmon I have ever tasted. Same with their steak. I had a burger from there a few weeks ago and it was down right gross. I could have sworn the meat was a month old. I wuld not go there again. I also have been told the reason that they have such a large beer selection is that they don't rotate their beers. Next time check your born on date.

The box has a pleasant atmosphere the allows not onlu families with children but even dates and singles to enjoy their evening. The beer selection is huge. I won't say they have it all because they don't. But they do have the largest beer selection I have ever seen. The food needs some attention. They have a really good hot roast beef sandwich and a great pulled pork sandwich. The salads are huga and they don't skimp on the toppings. Don't order a steak though, they are bland tough and tasteless. The service needs alot of help. Everytime i have been in there I have had to wait a long time for my waitress to come by after I was sat. Most of the bartenders are unattentive and know nothing about the beers they serve. With such a large sellection of eccentric beers they ought to have a sampler tray for tasting, at least on their tap beers. Or maybe do a tasting once a year or so, where the community is invited to buy a ticket and try many types of beers. All in all for the price it is a good place, a little crowded at night, but the more the merrier.

Since the expansion, it's an okay place to go watch a game on one of the big screens. I've always had crummy service when I've been, and the food needs work. But the beer selection is exceptional.

An awesome place to go for beer in a relaxed atmosphere. The beer selection is second to none but the food could use some work. It's a good place to go for a low key night and try one of the many beers they carry.

The best (and biggest) beer menu you have ever seen, everything from your basic Newcastle to the "champagne of beers", Chimay - a recipie developed over hundreds of years by the Trappist Monks of Belgium. If you're thinking of ordering a Miller or Bud here, you're really missing the boat !!!

A world class beer menu, best I've seen in the mid-west, definitely, and comarable to any I've seen in the Americas.
Bad stuff: Servers that are in a hurry to get you served and out (something I hate when enjoying beer), and burgers that taste like they came from a high school cafeteria.
Advice to the owners: Quit trying to turn the tables so quick and make a real mid western burger.

I have known the Box Bar longer than I care to admit. While it has grown significantly in size, it still has the "neighborhood bar" feel. The service is fast yet I have enver felt hurried while there.

I'm a local that is not impressed with the recent expansion. It used to be a quaint place to relax and pound back good beer. Now it's an over rated, over priced, noisy, upscale cafeteria that just happens to serve good brews.

What a great place. The beer menu tends to turn "one beer after work" into a sampling session. The bar staff is knowledgable about the different styles and beers. Bring cash....they don't accept plastic of any kind. I'm glad this place is close to work!

This is a great little burger bar. Just happens that they also have a great imported beer selection. Bonnie used to own a brew supply store and she is very knowledgeable about beer.
