Locally brewed beer wasn't very good at all. Actually, didn't drink more than half a pint of it. The place was friendly, but a rather shabby, divey college bar. At least the band was fairly good.

I stop here twice a year and always have the same thing,theHemp Ale which is a herb-spiced/red ale. I have tasted the Red Nectar Ale and the Pale Ale and they are all good. The Hemp ale is not overly spiced and has just the right amount of hop taste. For food I always order the french fries, they serve a big basket of wonderful hot,golden,crispy fries . This micro caters to mostly a local crowd and Arcata is a very laid back kind of city so the mix of customers is interesting. If you are in the area its worth a stop and take some time to walk around downtown Arcata.

Sanitation seems to be a problem here. The bottled beer purchased from retail outlets is a lot better than what is drawn at the Pub. Very charming ambiance, however, in a very charming town.
