Nice interior, staff is okay, food is so-so to weak.
I was double charged on my credit card for a recent $40 bill. Contacted the joint, spoke to the manager. Apparently this has happened with a number of people. She said she could not credit my account, as the owner would have to take care of it.
The owner is Guffman. I kept waiting . . .
After two weeks I had my credit card company take care of it. I hope they aren't trying to scam people . . .

When this place 1st opened it was always mobbed. The staff was surly, but good at their jobs. There was always EXCEPTIONALLY GREAT music playing, and the food was one giant step above most pub grub. There was some kind of split in the ownership, and they stopped brewing the beer inthe basement - but that was no big loss, as the homemade beer was really hit or miss, some batches were great and some were crap, I used to laughh when folks would make a special trip here to taste the ale, and jot down notes about the brew... Anyway, it was ahead of the curve of, and in the years since no less then 10 bars have opend in the blocks around this one, but remember that this one was first. It used to be a specail place, now it's just a bar with staff that is hit or miss & food that is hit or miss....

I've been to this bar several times and have always had friendly and quick service. The food is better than any pub food I've ever had. I'm guessing that anyone who gets bad service at this place is probably an asshole and so the waiters are treating them like one.

My friends & I went to Park Slope Ale House for a birthday brunch on 11/7/04, and were appalled with both the service & the food. My friends burger came to our table 5 different times because it was not how she ordered it, in fact it was delivered raw at one point! How difficult is it to make a burger? The waiter was rude & unhelpful. My friends & I will not be returning to this establishment and I would not recommend anyone go here.

From prior reviews, I didn't expect this to be a brewpub. Now, I no longer see the equipment either. This is a nice little corner pub, with standard pub fare (nachos & wings were good, hummus was a bit off). There were only 2 offerings in bottle - nothing exciting there, but they did have 20 taps, comprised overwhelmingly with micros & imports.

This is were Park Slope moved to however they no longer brew beer. They still have the equipment though. Went with a frined of mine on a Saturday afternoon. Travel tip don't walk from the subway take the bus. They had 5 beers on draft. Since it's in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn they had 2 from Red Hook, Dentergems Wit, Yankees New York Harbor Ale, Becks Octoberfest. Beers were and pizza wer all good. Bartender and owner were very friendly. For a complete review check out my site. www.thedanandjohnbeersite.com

NO LONGER A BREW PUB!!! There is NO FRESH BEER HERE!!! Just a run-or-the-mill pub, of which there is no shortage of a just a block away on 5th Avenue, or on 7th Avenue for that matter. Not worth the effort for a special trip. There once was good fresh beer to be had here, but NO LONGER!

Haven't brewed in a year according to the bartender. Has a very good selection of beer/ale on tap including Brooklyn, Southampton, Flying Fish, Otter Creek, Magic Hat, Abita, Sierra Nevada, Anchor, etc. Good service and friendly people.

Always a favorite place to visit when in Brooklyn. Tried the brown ale and IPA this trip and both were both quite nice. Food is varied and decent, though maybe a bit greasy. We were there on a Sunday evening and it was extremely noisy indoors (LOTS of little kids), so we sat outside in spite of the heat and humidity.

OK, so the food is a little greasy, but the quality of the beer more than make up for it.

A great experience was the "BARLEY WINE". I tried it the first time and was surprised: a mixture of beer/wine/port. It was not available at the brewpub itself but in another Park Slope Pub on Henrystreet.

Seemed like all beers used the same yeast and that flavor always came through. I did enjoy the excellent English style ales and the food and food service was very good.
