They only had two beers on tap when we went. Really enjoyed their winter ale. Food was a little better than expected from a restaurant at a hotel. Service was a little poor...one waitress for the entire dining room of about 9 tables. Certainly will be back, but not before trying other places in manchester.

Why stop with Black 47 Stout? You could have a series of beers commemorating famous genoicides. Stalin's Purge Imperial Stout. Bataan Death March Sake. Apartheid Ale. Oh, I guess it's only ok to bust on the Irish.

Don't bother going out of your way to visit this one. Nutfield has shut down its brewery in Derry and is now having all of its beers brewed at Shipyard in Portland Maine.
Maybe the comments in the previous post give a hint as to why they made this move.

Their bottled & keg product is prone to chill haze. Bottles are inconistantly filled & in some cases have a skunked flavour as I have seen in the Old Man Ale. I was saddened by such poor production quality in what the locals are so proud of calling their own. Sorry. I'll pass.

Beers are hit or miss, generally miss, especially in the bottle.

I'm writing this about the brewery not the Steak House at the Sheraton. I visited a few years ago. Jim was so hospitiable that we came back the next day. Old Man is my 2nd favorite beer in the world (2nd only th Gritty's Halloween Ale)

Had the chance to stop in on a Saturday. (finally) Had the place to ourselves. The beer was good, service was good, bartender was very informative. The Summer Wheat was excellent. Too bad they're only open Thurs., Fri., and Sat. Much better fresh than in a bottle!

Nice micro-brewery...friendly and fun tour by brewer..great growler prices in the adjoined taproom, which has a big-screen TV and popcorn. Located about 5 mins from the Derry exit on I-93...load up on growlers in both directions!!!!

Informative brewery tour. Enjoyed talking to the brewer, especially over a couple of pints at their in-brewery pub. Had tried the 'Winter Frost' a few days earlier in the bottle and didn't really like it at all, but was pleasantly surprised by it on tap here- was VERY good fresh! Reasonably priced growlers, too. Other high recomendations: Hopfest and Old Man Ale. Was disappointed to hear the brewer admit that he was looking to move to a job with Bud. Bummer- what a waste of great skills!

It's their yeast. All Nutfield beer (open-fermented) has a certain character to it. If you like it, you'll love just about every one of their brews, which somehow manage to maintain their individuality. Small mom and pop feel to the place. Neat to see open-fermentation for yourself (they let you climb some stairs and looks down into the fermentation tanks.
The folks let you taste (basically) to your heart's content. Brewer is a fun guy to talk to--ask him about Bob Dole's visit . . .
Also, the place is located RIGHT off Rte 93, and if you like good beer take that small side-trip on a Saturday, when you're on your way somewhere else.

This brewery has something for every taste, from very malty to very hoppy. The owner will gladly talk beer with you when you visit the brewery.
