Always liked the Brewery untill a recent visit. The bar was being renovated, so beer was being served in soft plastic containers, the kind used at a picnic. After four beers in these junk containers, we received a tab of $18.00 dollars. It was the same price as a pint (16oz ) even though it was only 12 oz. Since the price, or notice was not posted, I complained. The complaint fell on deaf ears, and the owner offered me one 12oz beer in a soft plastic container at this time only, not for the future.. No thanks, and shame on you. You have lost two, or maybe more good customers. Herb

Wife and I drove an hour to get here from the Catskills en route for a day in Great Barrington.....have brew will travel. We had a few chili dogs and the beer sampler. There were more beers available that were on the sampler that we didn't know about until we saw the blackboard on the way out. We liked everything and wish we lived closer.

I have been here 5 or 6 times and it has always been a great experience. The Berkshire blonde is one of my favorite beers of all time. I refill my growler every time I go. The service has been great, even when they are really crowded. Their sausages are delicious and I have yet to be dissappointed. I have been to microbreweries where every selection is bad, but they hit the nail right on the head with their selections at the great barrington brewery. This will always be a favorite of mine and it puts a smile on my face every time we plan to go there.

Had been going here, traveling from Cummington, MA!, for quite a few years, and have never had a bad brew or food! Always ate at the bar & had GREAT service!!! Somewhere, there's a picture of their black cat on my Harley Davidson seat!!!! I'm in S/E AZ now and miss micro's........best they can do here is Shiner Heffe...imported from Texas! Keep up the good work, guys! Jack Grady PS: If Pittsfield ever gets a REAL ballpark, I hope you guys get the beer concession!!!!!!!

Lots of questions:
Are you serious? You wrote two letters over $1.50? You got this upset over a cup of coffee? Why not just ask to see the bill?! Every restaurant bill will list the food items and cost (don't forget meals tax). Refuse to pay until it's shown to you. And if the service and experince was that bad, why tip 20%? Why not send the meal back if it were subpar? Why not get up and leave if you felt the portions were overly skimpy?
There is a right way to get what you want. What you've described here isn't it. Sorry, but you are as much to blame as the brewpub.

We visited here four weeks ago and had such a bad experience we asked for the mananger and was told he "just left".(I assume nobody else was in charge) We wrote a letter to the owner/manager the same day and never received a reply. Sent ANOTHER lettter and still no reply. My wife had a bowl chili and salad for $7.95 and a coffee ($1.50). I had a Philly chicken cheese sandwich on a tiny four inch roll (no fries, but, a very small dish of coleslaw)for $8.95 and a coffee ($1.50). Our bill came to $23.00! Plus a tip of $5.00. I believe we were charged for a second cup of coffee. Never have gotten an explanation. Stay clear of this place. Owner/manager evidently doesn't have class enough to reply to complaints in a timely manner.

This was the final destination for my 2004 Fall beer tour. I visited twice and if I were ever in the area would stop back. They had the widest selection of beer of encountered (see my previous reviews). I tried the Stout, Porter (my personal favorite kind of beer), IPA, Pale Ale, Brown Ale. All were very drinkable, but I have to agree with the previous review; the beers had a thin mouthfeel. I don't want to say "watered down", but the stout and porter could be heavier.

Although the beer selection at Great Barrington featured a variety of styles, they all fell short of being exemplary. For instance, the Hopland Pale Ale was a bit of a misnomer as it exhibited little or no pronounced hop presence. In all, the beers were a bit "thin" with no real body or mouthfeel. I did enjoy sitting outside in the patio area, eating a good pub lunch, however. But, all in all, that is not enough to warrant a second trip.

The Brewery is an old barn right off Route 7 in town. We visited this place the day after C'mas (sorry for the delay in posting). Business was slow for lunchtime. we were greeted right away and got a nice seat facing into the place. Lovely decor. Little cigarette smoke. But the prices for the food was outrageous! The women near us had a variety of wraps and they looked good.
I ordered a Berkshire Blonde and my friend ordered the AmberAle. His ale didn't look much different in color than my blonde, and it didn't taste much different either. So I will have to rate the beers "good" at best.
Our server messed up my friend's order TWICE so she ended up taking off his meal AND two of our beers. That was the only way we were able to get out of the pub without going broke.
Will I be back? Sure. There aren't too many brewpubs in the area.

Not many places like this in the area so I always make it a point to stop here when going home for a visit. Decent food and good service. Prefer their Hopland Pale Ale and IPA, but they have about 4 others to choose from too. Watch out for the for winter seasonal Yule Fuel as it has quite the "kick"!

four regular selections and four specials. Their "Firecracker" ale was allegedly so strong that the waitress said they would serve no more than two. That was a first. I almost took it as a challenge, but it had a slightly odd taste that made me not want to order a second. So I had the stout, which, again, was O K, but nothing special. Food was unexceptional. ...If you're thirsty, by all means stop here, but I don't think it is worth much of a detour.

Nice place. Stout and IPA lacking in flavor but Vienna and Pale Ale were very good. Bartender a little slow. Cool building. All in all it's worth seeking out. Oh yeah, the food was really good. One of the better places in MA.

Our server had the personality of a houseplant...the only time she became the least bit animated was when she was explaining she couldn't sell us a "growler" jug because of the Mass. "Blue Laws"

This was my second trip to the Barrington Brewery, and the "Barn Brewed" beverages may have been even better than back in '00. The Hopland Ale and seasonal Brown Ale were excellent. The staff was extremely friendly again. If you're in the Great Barrington area, do yourself a favor and stop in for an ale.

Did not expect to find a brewpub in this small of a market. All of the beers were excellent; some of course better than others. Great Barrington remains a beer destination for me even if everyone else comes for the scenery. And slow down for that MA. 41 railroad underpass on the N/W side of town, folks!
