Finally hit a Rock Bottom with good service (Chicago location take notice). I actually got to use my Mug Club Card without being barked at.
A great place to hang on a Sunday watching the games. Plenty of TV's and good viewing angles. I started with the Roktoberfest which is a German style amber lager brewed with toasted malt. It was all malt right up from with a hint of spices and floral notes. However, the flavor tapered off to cardboard and also was the aftertaste. No hops were present at all (not a problem for this brew). The Improper Hopper IPA was “ouch”on the nose being overly citrusy. It made for a clean palate but way too much on the Cascades. The Stout (name?) had a nice complex coffee/toffee nose, was dry but not too dry. It was a very clean beer and very nice overall.
We had a very nice afternoon here, albeit the Pat’s got trounced. Gerry our server gave us the attention we’d all like to have and did a great job keeping the glasses full. I hope to get back soon.

This place is alright, a bit pricey though. Only a few brews, but they are pretty good. They have some real good nachos, everything else is un-spectacular. Service is iffy (at best). I've had good service and I've had a waitress disappear with my change (after being a crappy waitress). Stop by if you're in the area, but don't go out of your way.

We went to Rockbottom for dinner one night when we were in Boston. The food and service were really good. I had their Improper Hopper IPA, which I thought was very good. I also had their rotating dark beer which happened to be a stout. It was also fantastic. My wife really enjoyed her Amber. After dinner we went over to the bar for a few more. I saw the hand pump behind the bar and asked what was on it. Turns out I kept drinking the stout the rest of the night. Rockbottom is the absolute best of the chains. I wish they would open one in NYC.

Stop # 4 on our visit to the brewpubs of Boston was the Rock Bottom on the evening of the 5th of June. We had been here before and liked the food and ale. The food was good. I had the sampler which was good. I thought the IPA was especially good. So much so that we took a growler with us and carted it around on the T for the rest of the night. The waitress was new and a little inexperienced. She did try hard though and that was appreciated by us. The surroundings make for some enjoyable eating and quaffing. I will visit again. #2 behind John Harvard as our favorite brewpub in Boston.

Once upon a time, Brew Moon was outstanding. As they faltered, I stopped going. When they sold to Rock Bottom, I was hesitant to try a chain, but finally did. The beers are good, and their occasional outstanding seasonal makes it worth repeat visits. They don't offer enough brews, though (esp. compared to the Beer Works). The food's become much better since a recent menu rework - try the Titan Toothpicks. They're not health food, but are delicious. Particularly given their location, I'll return when I'm out in that part of town - Rock Bottom definitely beats the nearby alternatives (except maybe Jacob Wirth) if you're looking for a good beer. And although it's a bit over the top, the frozen panel in the bar top that keeps your beer cold when you put it down is pretty cool.

I stopped at this place last Sat as part of a pub crawl. I was looking forward to seeing what rock bottom had done to the old Brew Moon chain (oh I loved that Grasshopper IPA). I'm sorry to say I was not impressed. A hand full of lame-o beer styles scrubbed down for consuption by the masses and one or two special beer is not a good selection for a brew pub these days. Food and service. You can't have one without the other. So if you don't get service you don't get food! We were in this place for a hour and the place was more than half empty. I ordered something called chicken sticks. I said they were lousy because I never got them. That was not because I did not try. I talked to my barmaid, another barmaid (when I couldn't find mine), a bartender (when neither of the barmaids could be found) he told me that there was a mix up and my food was comming out right now. Fifteen minutes later still no food so I told the manager to cancel my food. Five minutes later we left to go to another stop. Oh by the way I had a Scotch Ale that was good but my experiance with the horrible service means I will most likely never return.

On two separate Boston trips we've enjoyed Rock Bottom. This year, they had a black cherry wheat beer as their summer seasonal, and it was nothing short of stunning.
Their "usual beers" are solid - and they range again from light to stout, and I can't say there was one I wouldn't enjoy. The food is very good (again, set expectations people - its a chain restaurant! so take this review relative to that style) - and the service has always been friendly and accomodating.
On the strength of the seasonal offerings two years in a row (last year's being the tasty American Dream, similar to this years, but Raspberry-based), I recommend seeking this place out, at least for lunch.

Before you go jumping to any conclusions about your credit card being overbilled make sure that you talk to the management of this restaurant. When the computer systems verify a credit card, they sometimes oververify a specified amount in case a tip is included. This amount is then taken off after a day or two. I don't have any idea what actually happenned, but that could be the case. Just double check before you post this on a site and smear a restaurants name. At the same time, the server could be trying to rip you off, like i said i don't know exactly

The waiter increased the amount of my tip by $3.00. My bank statement showed the increased billing. If this type of action takes place often a waiter can quickly increase their total tips by huge amounts. I hope this was a mistake, but I seriously doubt it as the figures I wrote on the bill were clear. I would expect restitution.

Despite low expectations, we enjoyed a couple afternoon beers here. The Scotch Ale was a high alcohol (7.5%) brew and tasted so. It was good, butstrong and filling. The IPA had a lot of finishing hops that gave it an almost flowery aroma and taste. Being that it was mid-afternoon, we had no problems with service or attitude.

After reading several half-assed reviews of Boston brew pubs I decided to try it for myself. I ordered the Sampler and came to a immediate conclusion: WATERY BEER..Although the main ingredient in beer is water, Rock Bottom pushes it to a disapointing extreme. While the different brews tasted the way they should they were way to watery. The food was presented well while the service was lacking. MARK THIS ONE OFF THE LIST.

Brew Moon is a trendy upscale brewpub in the theater district. The sampler included six 4 oz beers, one of which is a seasonal. The hefeweizen was light in color, crystal clear, and resembled a light offering more than a hefeweizen. None of these beers stood out. The faltering brewpub chain Rock Bottom now owns Brew Moon.

Six excellent brews on tap. Nothing that would knock you off your stool, but all very good quality and true to style. Even the "light lager" was surprisingly good and actually very malty. The Improper Hopper IPA was a great beer--not overly hoppy, nice malty backbone. The Yellow Pearl Belgian was also nice. The bar staff were knowledgeable and the meal was excellent. Next time I have a chance, I'll be back. [The bad reviews I read about this place must be out of date.]

We were in the theater district to see a performance. Brew Moon was conveniently nearby. The food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. The restaurant was interestingly decoured but quite functional. The beers ranged from not good to good. I recommend staying away from their light beers unless you think Budwieser is wonderful. Their darker beers were nicely hopped but lacked body, still, I would say they are good.

I thought that the decor was to overdone for the quality off the beer and service. I would not bring someone to this place who was a beer lover, it is good, however, for people who are going to a show and need to get bite to eat. The food was good, but the service was horrible. No matter how good the stuff is, if you have bad service it will stink!

With six beers on tap(one included a beer master special-double bock, there was something for everybody. Of the selection, the munich gold(their award winner) was the best with the porter close behind. The ale was very light and don't bother trying the mayberry beer. Overall, beer was there but the character and style that typically is in microbrews wasn't there. Atmosphere was good, lots of room in this glitzy style.Location great in the middle of the theater district. And I must mention the napkins, two patrons commented on how great they were. Also, I understand the Harvard Square location has different beers than this one-I guess that's my next stop.

Heard their brewer had a background with Budweiser. That would explain a whole lot. The beer is just not very good, either too watery or defective. This is a beer lover's hell!
